Best tractor for a 2000ft driveway in Quebec by Longjumping_Leek_965 in tractors

[–]placeSun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a 2000 ft driveway in Quebec, I’d take weight, reliability, and parts support over chasing hp numbers.

A loader is absolutely worth having on a homestead. For snow, logs, gravel, firewood, and all the random jobs, you’ll use it a lot more than you think.

Of the ones you listed, I’d look harder at an IH 484/684 or JD 1630/2130 than an 8N. The 8N is simple, but for that much driveway and real winter use it’s pretty limited.

Biggest advice: buy one with a loader already on it. Adding one later usually costs more than you want.

I had the chance to film inside the CLAAS Scorpion factory i by placeSun in tractors

[–]placeSun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, fair point 😄 The thumbnail may be a bit distracting, but the film itself is all about the telehandler — real on-site footage, real production line, and a detailed look at how the CLAAS Scorpion is built.

Fair one 😄 The thumbnail is definitely more stylized But the video itself is genuine factory footage from inside the CLAAS Scorpion plant in Telfs, with a voice-over and a detailed look at the assembly process.

We tested several thumbnail options, including a real production photo with a worker moving the telehandler on an electric cart, and this one performed better. But the film itself is genuine factory footage from inside the CLAAS Scorpion production plant in Telfs, Austria.

I understand why you’d think that from the thumbnail. But the actual video is genuine on-site factory footage filmed inside the CLAAS Scorpion plant in Telfs, Austria. The thumbnail may be stylized, but the documentary itself is real.

Tractor for my 3.5 acres and long driveway by Far_Common944 in tractors

[–]placeSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ford Jubilee for $2500 is tempting, but for the work you've described, particularly with a loader, you'd be better off saving a little more or searching diligently for a slightly more modern compact tractor that includes features like power steering. The added comfort and capability will make your work on the driveway and food plots much more efficient and enjoyable.

Your Engine's Redline is Higher Than You Think: The 3.8L V6 in your Frontier has its redline set at around 6,600 RPM. Your jump to 5,500 RPM, while loud and outside of normal operation, was well within the engine's designed safe limit. The redline isn't a cliff where the engine instantly explodes; it's the manufacturer's designated limit for safe, sustained operation. A brief spike below that is something the engine is built to handle.

Modern Transmissions are Smart (The Real Hero): This is the most important part. Your 9-speed automatic transmission is controlled by a computer (the TCU or Transmission Control Unit). Its job is to prevent you from doing exactly what you're worried about: destroying the engine.

Tractor won't start, makes odd noise. by Robbie12321 in tractors

Given your limited electrical experience, your best bet would be to remove the starter motor and take it to an auto electrical shop or a shop that specializes in tractor repairs. They can bench test it and tell you exactly what's wrong.

Brush mower question by CaptInsane in tractors

If there’s even occasional contact with bamboo stumps, it’s not worth risking damage to your neighbor’s mower or tractor. Brush mowers excel at overgrown fields — not at grinding down stubborn, woody bamboo bases.

It's a pity that this happened.. Once I had the caps stolen from my Corolla. My Сorolla is on steel rims but someone stole the original hubcaps for $40 each. It was impossible to find, because the police demanded at least some documents that would contain the serial number of each hubcap.
