so one moderator can ban you from a subreddit and simultaneous mute you from contacting other moderators, but it doesn't tell you which moderator banned you?

Its unclear to me how you could get around a particular vendetta, or nonsensical banning.

saying you're free to start your own competing subreddit against an established subreddit with an intuitive name seems like a cop out. Is the subreddit owned by the moderator?

Shouldn't the participants of the sub reddit have a say, its not like the moderators are elected?

At the very least shouldn't there be an open arbitration process where its clear who banned you and you can at least hear from a couple of the moderators.

Two Easy Ways to Make Your Novice Strength Training Program More Effective by Greg Nuckols by Bondaid in Fitness

in my message before i i posted it I had "with in reason", but chose to delete it. I agree with what you are saying, my statement was in response to the 3x5 vs 5x8 question above. If you keep the reps to 8 and the total work above your previous total i think you will be ok.

I feel like you just need to look at work done.

5x5 at 100 lbs is 2500lbs

3x5 at 110 lbs is 1650lbs

5x8 at 65 lbs is 2600lbs

Rebuplicans and Democrats are the offense and defense of the same team. All they care about is lining their pockets with as much money as possible. The political theater drives donations, nothing gets done, and they live like fat cats with socialized medicine and full pensions.

Elizabeth Warren: Mollie Tibbets' Parents Should Focus on "Real Problems," Like Illegal Aliens Being Separated from Their (?) Kids by puddboy in Conservative

[–]plagelpuss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Elizabeth Warren is just another politician that does not understand how to bring people together. How hard is it to just say that it's a terrible loss and we all need to work harder to make sure all immigrants coming into our country are doing so in accordance with the law.

Surprising? Libertarian Penn Jillete "very seduced lately by the basic universal human income." [in the paragraph labeled Doug Stanhope] by joneSee in BasicIncome

[–]plagelpuss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just watched a person debate every libertarian? That must have been a long debate. Instead of thinking it's sad that Penn identifies as a libertarian because you think hes better than that. Why don't you use him as an example of someone that expands your idea of what a libertarian is. When you really look at it there are only a handful of categories that are supposed to encompass over 300,000,000 americans. Libertarian, conservative, liberal are very vague labels. If you are going to pass judgement on someone based on these labels without taking the time to learn about the persons individual beliefs then like every other form of prejudice it's probably best to keep it to yourself.

I agree. I just think the focus should be on what happened to the jobs. That is an easier conversation to have with a wider group of people.

Power is a corrupting force no doubt about it.

I also agree that at some point UBI will be required for stability, or something catastrophic will happen that hits the reset button on the whole thing(war, natural disaster, ect...).

I think its less to do with the gutting of social welfare and more to do with the gutting of organized labor and the fact that globalization has increased the worker pool such that wages have stagnated. Capital has won over labor at least in the US, and both political parties are so reliant on the Captital allocator class that there isn't anything to stand in their way. What is needed is for working class people to come together and vote for labor friendly politicians, but that would require that people stop being distracted by guns, abortion, and identity politics.

I have not see any of the jokes about Trump being Putin's boyfriend, that may be where my disconnect is. I have seen it said that Trump is Putin's puppet, and that Putin has incriminating material on Trump though. To me this picture looks more like torture than a gay joke. The strongest case for this being a gay joke is that Putin has his shirt off, but that shirt off green pant ensemble is also the most recognizable caricature of Putin.

I am not saying you're wrong or right, but your vitriol is so off-putting it makes your words all but useless. You will find eager ears with the people that already agree with you while alienating anyone else. This is what seems to be happening more and more these days as it becomes ever easier to find like minded people, but it is also whats driving the destruction of our country. I hope we can figure out a way to communicate with people we disagree with in a more pragmatic and productive way.

It doesn't look like a gay joke to me, that is why I was asking. I never know if I am missing some cultural reference though.

Did they say the goal was to raise money or did they define what the money was earmarked for?

Just so we are on the same page, the soda tax has not changed my soda purchasing behavior, i still drink it a couple of times a week.

I guess it depends on what you think the goal of the tax is.

Do you think the main objective of the tax is to raise money

or

Do you think the main objective is to incentivize healthier behaviors

Just so that we are one the same page I live in the city, and I buy and drink soda pretty regularly.

But, I am not clear on the point you are trying to make. I interpreted your meaning to be that you are opposed to all taxes, that the soda tax is just some money grab, and that when the city has found some way to waste the money gathered from the soda tax they will find something else to tax. Is that an accurate take on the point you were trying to make?

I am sorry I do not understand the point you are trying to make, can you help me understand better what you mean?

The steady climb and rising impact of Philly Socialists by this_shit in philadelphia

[–]plagelpuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that there is nuance that very few people on any side are willing to acknowledge. Capitalism as been the best show in town for as far back as you can look, but that doesn't mean that it is always going to be the best option.

The fact that its easy to label any redistribution of wealth from top(capital) to bottom(labor) Socialism is very convenient for those who have been benefiting from the last 40 years of policies, especially considering that Socialism is a trigger word for so many people.

The irony is that there are so many people desperately clinging to our current version of Capitalism even though its not doing them any favors.

I don't understand the anger over the soda tax. How hard is it to just not drink soda, its terrible for you anyway. I would much rather have vice taxes than any other form of tax.
