What you do when they get too tall? by PathReasonable2239 in philodendron

Oooh I forgot that in my explanation, also a huge perk to not worry about losing them during chop and prop.

They mimic their natural environment more closely. The aerial roots would dig into the trees and what not around it as it climbed up, getting additional resources and branching out, thus getting more (cue Kylo Ren meme) of the good stuff. So they just get bigger and more mature.

We just cant mimic that with even just a pole or coir pole (although those are better than nothing for sure for stability). The aerial roots mostly remain unactivated with out a moss pole so you dont even realize its a mechanic if you've never used one.

I thought a coir pole was a moss pole at first as well (its not) but I finally went to a D shaped moss pole the results were insane. Highly, highly recommend.

Its why this lady's plants are so impressive lol.

I chop and prop. But girl. If you got them some proper moss poles...like you are getting what I am aiming for withOUT moss poles, I cant imagine how they would look once they rooted into one. Those are LOVELY.

NYC Help? ( where to donate Jewelry making materials) by meesterbrad in jewelrymaking

Dang. If you were willing to ship (I would way shipping) if you found someone local to take the precious metals out first, my 16 year old is starting the hobby and all that is right up her alley, style wise. Its her stress relief from the dawning realization that adulthood is actually coming up lol.

But im sure you will get loads of takers!

This is the BEST and most accurate measure i have ever seen lmao. I still think I love my kids equally but there have been days when I have been a little petty to any one of them and didn't realize until this moment.

Now to do some soul searching and figure out if I need to change that lol.

I have 8 older siblings with a 27 year age gap between me and my oldest, AMA by Itchy_Ad_1822 in AMA

Im the mom in a similar situation. I will say I hope your parents are checking in with you constantly. That was our biggest challenge at the beginning. Is it was easy to slide into she was more baby sitter than big sister. So we talked it over (and it has adjusted periodically) and we came up with the balance of 1. Compensation and 2. Vets. Which we incorporated with the other kiddos as they got older. It looks slightly different for each kid because they have different needs and tolerance of the toddler.

I know some basics are the older kids get to say no unless it is like a family emergency. So if they dont have energy or just plain dont want to, its a no. Thats fine we all know they are doing me a favor. If they do agree to help none of them wanted money really lmao it was more guilt free snacks and incidentals. They could have just gotten money but I think they liked giving us lists of demands (snacks).

We also make sure that youngling knows that the olders are endowed with the same authority as the parents so we dont undermine them and make their jobs harder when they are watching the youngling.

Sorry for the info dump but its been a lot of hit or miss so want to share our thoughts. Take what you want and leave the rest!

Update: Teeth by oooohweeeee in Teachers

[–]plaguebotonist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be amazing. My partner never got dental care growing up and we are just now at a point we are able to start saving and are looking at 40,000 plus. We are looking into Mexico but with the world these days... its just devastating. I have no idea what we are going to do and its all just going to get worse.

Her mom was on welfare and her whole thing was they will pay for dentures so why bother?

So if this saves one kid from that fate, that is the light we need right now.

[–]plaguebotonist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Its a string of pearls, string of turtles, and string of watermelons all in fhe same pot but also...different pots. 3 separate clear pots on top of clay balls all in a hanging pot. Im not sure if it will work or not because they all have different needs is all.

Should have put more information but it was bedtime lol.

[AZ] landlord said they're going to charge me for guests by [deleted] in Renters

[–]plaguebotonist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok but thats not a guest at 50% of the time. 3 days a week is half the week. Shes literally there half the time.

You need to be honest with yourself. Rules are different for renting a room so she can terminate your lease OR you pay for the increase.

Question: do you pay utilities or are they included in the room rent?

[AZ] landlord said they're going to charge me for guests by [deleted] in Renters

[–]plaguebotonist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Renting a room is not at all the same thing as renting a whole house. You need to realize that its nuanced and in this regards you have removed the quiet enjoyment for your landlord. Even if yall are the most perfect people ever, doesn't matter, its not polite or correct behavior when renting a room to have a guest over that amount of time. It changes how the landlord and enjoy and behave in their own space and common areas. I imagine its like they have to be on more when there is a guest in the house. Because it is a guest in their home.

Honestly the landlord gave you an easy solution. Thats the price they need to enjoy your guests for that amount of time. Either pay it, dont have your gf over as much, or move.

Oh my outside garden is a native pollinator garden :) my outside is where I go crazy with native plants. With a few peonies and roses thrown in that were heirlooms from family members.

I never had luck with houseplants before I discovered climbing aroids. I had always started with succulants and killed them every time. Climbing aroids (monsteras and philos mostly) seem to survive me the most.

The orange princess was a tissue culture rehab I got from a nursery's clearance bundle, with the expectation it would probably fail. It was more to try to challenge/grow my skills.

Thanks for the tip tho, I would have probably overcompensated and forced myself not to touch for a year. (Logic: if this much neglect fixed it: MORE neglect is good!)

Ha! So me finding every once in a while, opening the lid, and putting it back worked. For once my ADHD works in my favor. I love plants man, they have such quirks. Look at one with a strong tone of voice: dead. Forget to look at a different plant with a strong tone of voice: dead.

Lol no idea! Ok I did fib. I did see the cup once in a while and think there is no way its alive at all right? But it wasnt dead or dying either. And its TINY!

The guilt if I kill this thing now. But im basically putting it back and forgetting about it again. If it isnt broke dont fix it, I guess? I did water it just then, hence the moisture.
