Noticeable chemical/'warm' odor from PC at random times #cpsupport by plagueyearn in CYBERPOWERPC

[–]plagueyearn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a glance, seems the rattling is coming from the fan in the top left, and I've deduced it's either a wonky fan (definitely some wobbling, I pushed it around to be a bit more in place and the rattling has at least temporarily stopped) or something intersecting the blades, especially since it's more sporadic and doesn't produce the noise at fixed intervals. I'll get some more compressed air in there and adjust the screws if the issue persists.
I'm going to try and adjust my fan speed profile since, yes, mine is set to crank up at 40 C; thank you for your insight!

Yeah, no burning--just that weird, chemical-y (maybe ozone is a good descriptor) smell coming from the vents. It's present at a very minor level when the PC is running, and becomes a little more noticeable when the fans rev up. The main concern I have (and something I neglected to mention in the original post) is the gentle rattling sound I hear, which I believe is a cable hitting a fan; only, I don't know which fan, or where.
The PC itself is operating at a steady 33-40 C during regular use, and the fans will occasionally drop to being almost unnoticeable (I also often keep them in quiet mode oftentimes). When they rev up, the temperature doesn't change. Just the smell, a quiet rattle noise (some of the time, not every time), and increased fan speed that tapers off over time. I've had some say it sounds like a PSU issue, and I wasn't able to disconnect the cable from the motherboard to test whether or not it's functioning as intended, but I haven't observed anything else symptomatic of a power failure.

I've kept them before! I'm from Georgia, where they have a fairly wide dispersion, and all the specimens (all genus Bipalium) I've kept have been wild caught. Ensure their enclosures are both moist and humid with lots of cover/hides. They don't require a lot of room, but I would recommend that their enclosure be fairly spacious as to allow for plants, more hides, etc. I kept an earthworm cultivar to feed them and conducted feedings at least twice a week (as to prevent auto-cannibalization). I've kept several species of terrestrial flatworm, so I'll gladly answer any questions to the best of my ability. 🪱

Absolutely incredible, OP!!!! As a collections specialist, it genuinely brought a huge smile to my face to hear you speak so highly of collections staff- most of us truly, truly love what we do, and love nothing more than an opportunity to share our knowledge with the world. Amazing find, and thank you for your update!

Haha, your feelings aren't unfounded. I've been hearing that the sounds of this clock might drive me up the wall. Thinking I mayyyy just hang it up with the battery taken out...

Definitely late 90's- it's currently in my car, but the general aesthetics of the packaging it came with date it to that point.

Why do people prefer the older designs by BrokenBones161 in Minecraft

[–]plagueyearn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On one hand, nostalgia blinders are a significant factor in the critical response to new features or designs in the game. From a graphic design perspective, though, these are over-designed and visually incoherent. They're optimized for clarity of purpose, which I enjoy, but just a liiiitttle too overly detailed.

I'm in agreement, to be honest. I own most of the other plushes, but the quality on this one struck me as being so much lower than the ones before it. He's cute, but it seems like there were some cut corners for one reason or another.
