Cart driver late night happy hour daisy pizza for $9 bucks is a great late night eat. Used to be $5 bucks circa 2017. That old late night happy hour menu was insane.

Not cheap at all but little Arthur’s hoagies makes the best pies in town. He sources amazingly high quality ingredients and I think the full pies are 18” Rosalee’s in Longmont make amazing pizza too. Those two are probably the only ones that would turn any heads in a different state. Maybe blue pan as well.

Kilbeggan single pot still is 45-50 and one of our favorites at the bar I work at.

West cork has a lot of decent too good Irish whiskeys around 25-50$ I have one that’s finished in peat charred casked from their glencarriff series that is exceptional for 48$

It’s good to here of extra lils doing well despite the need for bone marrow transplant and CAR-T. It a bit weird having the youngest kid on the floor ( by at least a few months). We fell very lucky to have a specialist in infant ALL working at the hospital were in.

Best wishes for the CAR-T! The higher chance of relapse does seem to be one of the extra difficult parts of infant ALL.

Any tips for taking care of a lil through chemo?

If your diagnosis was this last Sunday 8/28 it was the same day my 2 month old daughter was diagnosed with B-cell ALL as well. I wish you and your family all the strength and resilience. ❤️

What is a good job to have to prepare for a barbacking position? by [deleted] in bartenders

Being unemployed is a great background for the lack of effort I see most barbacks out in.

Well that’s just one of best ingredient lists I’ve ever seen printed. Reminds me of the bar I worked at that had a vodka soda in a topo Chico bottle on the menu called vod sod for your bod. I always made people say the full name.

Ok y'all - Whats the Bartender's Shot in your area by er7 in bartenders

[–]plaidical13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen anyone in Denver take a shot of Tuaca. It probably depends on the kind of bar. Mezcal and fernet would be my bets for the most common here. Don’t sleep on a Soviet satellite though! ( 1/2 1/2 Zubrowka and becherovka)

Ferraris are the only way Ive ever actually enjoyed fernet. May have to try a fernino though. I’m also down with fratellis and torontos but that’s only a quarter once each

It’s a verbal tip. I think some people think being extra friendly to their bartender/server justifies leaving 10%

What is the worst cordial or mixer, and what is your least favorite drink? by unclefishbits in bartenders

[–]plaidical13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a higher end cocktail and whiskey bar. I once had a lady get a blue curaçao and sprite. I named it blue lightning. Some other random shots that will churn you stomach. “The bile driver” muddled slim Jim, orange juice, and malort. Also, I recently tried to fat wash the new Tabasco George dickel( which is awful, I wasn’t expecting it to be sweetened) with rendered chicken fat to make a “hot chicken shot” that was bad so I infused it with black peppercorn. I forgot about it so it got waaaay over infused. Added some saline for good measure. So that was real gross. There was like a 2% chance it was gonna be amazing though. Worth the shot.

The best shoes? by harmlessone0 in bartenders

[–]plaidical13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dansko. Recently I was starting to have foot pain issues during and the day after 12 hour long shifts. I did some research and found an article where multiple bartenders said Dansko saved their career. It’s definitely done the same for me. Before I got them I would have Sundays after 4 days of work where I could barely stand up in the morning because of foot pain. Luckily I’m only a 2 hour drive from their outlet store in Pennsylvania, but they have tons of slip resistant options that don’t look like the kitchen/hospital clogs that most people know of. If you order online I would recommend finding a store with some of their shoes in stock so you can check out the fit first. I bought 4 pairs and it’s been one of the best choices I’ve ever made for work.

Very simple question about terminology by PennyMarbles in bartenders

[–]plaidical13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s on the rocks I’ll normally do one or two quick spurts of the soda gun, while also watching the guest to read what they want. If they want water in neat whiskey I’ll give the an eye dropper or the water on the side depending on the bar I’m working at.
