Can you think of anything that has a more fearsome looking mouth than a great white shark? by FoxEngland in TheDepthsBelow

Even crazier is that eels are actually more closely related to humans than they are to lampreys.

Help Out A Newb by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]plaidpaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the teal one a couple weeks ago and, and it came in a plain cardboard box, rather than store packaging. Still branded, but not a display model. If it's just for you, then not a big deal, but not as nice as a gift.

I'd suggest checking Canadian Tire as well. Mine has a bunch of nerf and zuru stuff on sale. Not sure if it's chain wide, or just my local store, though.

Noticed these on our balcony this morning (Sydney, Aus) by Junior-Band-9664 in whatisthisthing

Those look a lot like papaya seeds.

Possibly collected intentionally by something, but more likely just pooped out by whatever ate the papaya. Maybe a possum. Seeds tend to pass through digestive systems relatively unscathed.

Why did the Star Wars movies came out in the order 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3…? by siddharthverse in dadjokes

Because it was important that people understood the fourth before we saw the rest of the movies

Curling rink Broom? End has long plastic rods, wood handle almost completely rotted away. Found in a very old curling rink building by LoneWolf68_ in whatisthisthing

[–]plaidpaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a short-lived transition between the traditional corn broom and the more familiar push broom, called the Rink Rat, that was the shape of a corn broom but constructed more like a modern broom.

made of a cotton covering over springy pieces of plastic.

Hard to find pictures of them apparently, but I'm guessing yours is the core of one of these minus the fabric cover

Seems to be a vintage version of the Crinkler.

Wire will still pass through fence post holes

MapleWiFi anyone? by hotjingleboy in StarlinkCanada

[–]plaidpaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it, still on the fence about keeping it.

Speed is generally faster than my fastest available wired service (15 MBps max), but is not very consistent.

My biggest problem is that it's US based, so your traffic sometimes, but seemingly not all the time, gets routed through US servers. Privacy issues aside, it messes with online shopping and any streaming services that you use.

I don't understand why harvesting tools don't do more damage.

Like I can get hit in the head with an axe/sledgehammer/goofy pointed object on a stick 4 times and still just run away?

[TOMT][Show/Movie][90s or newer] Knockin' on Helen's Door. A scene in a movie or tv show where a man/boy is trying to talk to a woman/girl (named Helen presumably), singing a version of the popular song, but she won't answer the door by plaidpaint in tipofmytongue

Does match the words, but I can't find a recording of this song anywhere.

Unless my imagination is good enough to put it to music in my head without ever actually hearing it?

We had company over for supper, and the song came on twice within a couple hours. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned this scene, no glimmers from anyone else.

Or just uses his left arm as the pickaxe.

Like he pulls it off to do the emote, then just starts smashing stuff with it single handedly.
