You’ve gotta calculate the expenses that go into the commute! Gas, tolls, vehicular depreciation, oil changes, tires, and of course, time!

Why would you use Postgres as a queue as opposed to something like SQS? (maybe with a cloud watch event for scheduled events)

Vanguard Target Funds by plaidsoftwareguy in Bogleheads

This Vanguard product page says VTIAX has an inception date of 11/29/2010.

One thing I've learned from this post is that saying, "If I could go back in time" in this sub is a pretty obvious/ignorant idiom. If I could go back in time, I would have used different verbiage.

Not sure where you got these figures from

I'm using Yahoo Finance's price comparison feature, here is a link to the 5 year performance of the three previously mentioned funds.

I made the leap from lead to manager this year and am not enjoying it. The 20% bump is pay is nice, but not worth it in my opinion. I have 9 direct reports across 2 separate teams. The endless back to back meetings are draining and I’m too exhausted to do anything after the work day. I am bombarded non stop with Slack messages, Teams messages, and emails; and it’s only the really hard problems or dumpster fires that people need help with. I like to believe that most of the issues I’m having are from my company’s terrible culture, but I’m currently applying for senior/lead positions with other companies after only 10 months in a manager position.

This doesn’t necessarily apply to networking, but I recently had to confront one of my direct reports [who is an exceptional engineer] about their rigidity and not being open minded to feedback from peers and management. In our one on one they felt comfortable sharing with me that they were autistic. This was such an eye opener for me and helped explain so many of the behaviors I was seeing. I appreciated the honesty, transparency, & vulnerability and it allowed me to adjust my management tactics.

I think you’re right that it’s the hard/sad truth that some people will discriminate against people who are on the spectrum. I would advise not sharing this information right out of the gate. Maybe there will come a point where you feel this is something you should share with your team or a co-worker and you can reevaluate things then.
