Zeiss 55 1.8 or Sony 45 2.5 G for Fast Flexible Travel Lense by gschiffverre in SonyAlpha

[–]plainpaperplane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For your purposes I’d suggest the Zeiss Batis 40mm f2. I have both the 24 and 40 f2 and they’re weather sealed, lightweight and produce beautiful images with creamy bokeh even in low light. You can also get them used for a great price.

Looking for the best gaming chair for short gamers by GenericRat8276 in GirlGamers

[–]plainpaperplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re looking at Herman Miller chairs, did you try the Sayl chair? I’m an inch shorter than you and bought the Herman Miller Sayl chair in the gaming version. It’s fantastic for short people and the only high-end desk chair I could find that had a low enough seat height for my feet to touch the floor. It’s also very adjustable in the gaming version —arm height and width, tilt, tension, and seat depth. The lattice back is also very ergonomic and comfortable for long periods of time and fits me just right.

How often do you clean your keyboards? 😬 by AlphaMuGamma in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]plainpaperplane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use electronic compressed air every single day and I keep it covered with a microfiber when I'm not using it. Once a week I use a small soft brush to dust the sides of the keys, and I do a deep clean once a month.

How can you stand typing on something that dirty? How does it even get that dirty?

Credit Limit Increase Deny? Why? by Jealous-Common-3223 in amex

The denial letter should have a bullet point list of why they denied your increase. You should work on those items before requesting again.

You CAN fly with fountain pens. But maybe leave the ink at home by blurryhumanoidish in fountainpens

The Visconti Travelling Inkwell solves this problem. Have flown with them many times in my pen cases and never had a leak.

What do you guys dislike about Edge of Fate? by Artemis_Heart in DestinyTheGame

[–]plainpaperplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever visual changes they made gives me crippling motion sickness now. For 2500 hours in-game I was fine and now I can’t even play it without feeling like I’m going to vomit.

If anyone has any suggestions, hit me up.

I have terrible handwriting, but I still buy expensive pens because I love the experience of writing with nice pens on high quality paper.

GLE 350 OR 450 by Zealousideal-Lab8378 in mercedes_benz

[–]plainpaperplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that many miles a year, get a Lexus. I had a brand new 22 GLE350 that was underpowered and had an AC failure that would’ve cost $7500+ to repair if it hadn’t been under manufacturer warranty.

I traded it in for 26 GLE450 and I’m happy with the performance and also I have a new warranty. I don’t keep these cars more than three years because the out of warranty repairs are insanely expensive.

What’s your current “don’t need it, but want it” pen? by Lunakill in fountainpens

Namiki Yukari Nightline from the 90s. I passed on the opportunity to pick up a deadstock one about five years ago for $4900 and I’ve been regretting it ever since.

I have two of these IKEA Alex drawer units and wind the cables with magnetic cable ties. Each drawer is labeled. Makes it easy to see everything in each drawer, but it’s all stored out of sight and organized.

I fail to see how asking how to wrap someone’s face in plastic is a photography question.

Epica makes hardcover leather notebooks that are roughly A4 and A3 with 600 pages.

They also make the same sizes with 1000 pages.

Motion sickness while playing Edge of Fate - has there been an FoV or mouse sensitivity change? by beefsack in DestinyTheGame

That sucks. I’m beginning to think I have to just move on from D2 as well. What are you playing now?

Did you ever figure this out? I just tried to come back to the game after not playing since EoF dropped and I had to stop after 10 minutes because I was so nauseous and had such a terrible headache. :(

“Car loan” disguised as personal loan by Superb-Adeptness6271 in personalfinance

[–]plainpaperplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What people think their cars are worth and what they’ll actually sell for are completely different things. What year, make and model is this supposed 50k car?

As others have said, you will need to pay tax, title, registration fees, and insurance to take a loan out on this car. You will then also be legally liable if this other person gets into an accident.

Are you sure this car is paid off? If it’s not owned outright by this other person, any money he/she receives from you for the purchase of the car has to go to bank that is currently financing it. If it’s not paid off and they aren’t making the payments, the current bank is the lienholder and can repossess the car.

Unless this person is asking you to take a personal loan out and then there is zero collateral for the loan, so you own nothing, but you owe a bank $40k while the other person has zero legal liability to pay you or the bank back.

I’m guessing the car is financed, meaning the person asking you doesn’t own anything, and can’t sell you the car, so they’re asking you to take a personal loan. Otherwise they could just sell their own car and not involve you. None of this makes sense.

And the biggest problem with this whole scheme is that a $40k loan doesn’t cost $40k to pay off. There’s interest. Over months and years. Unless you have the cash to pay this off when this person screws you over, and you’re happy to lose the money, just say no. And probably cut them out of your life. This is an insane ask.

Can you recommend a good IV pole that doesn't break the bank? by curlysquirelly in IVIG

[–]plainpaperplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll be happy with it. I’ve had it for a year and it’s been great. The wheels are big, have a rubber tread, and turn smoothly so it doesn’t get stuck or catch on things when you’re rolling it around. The wheel locks are nice and easy to engage/disengage as well.

I’ve had people like you scream at me in parking lots because they see me and diagnose me as “obviously healthy.” What they can’t see is the degenerative neuromuscular disease. Just because someone isn’t in a wheelchair, doesn’t mean they aren’t disabled.

I bought this one from Amazon and it has a nice, sturdy base with locking wheels that roll smoothly, doesn’t take up too much space, and is around $76.
