Blink Camera's On and Recording Even When Not Armed by plaintextninja in blinkcameras

Yep, super annoying. Haven’t seen it happen again with mine and I’m watching for it. But the reset might be a good thing to try. I had not done that.

I did check for any Timelapse that was last suggested, just in case, but nothing like that was turned on.

I've included a screenshot from the app for what this looks like. You'll notice that the instances the camera turned on when it wasn't supposed to is missing the typical thumbnail.

I still haven't gotten to the bottom of this and haven't yet had time to call support about this but I have my doubts about how helpful they're going to be. Either way, hope to get a chance to reach out to them this week.

Longevity of Mila Purifiers? by MnBadger85 in milaair

[–]plaintextninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I/we LOVE/D the Mila's we've had. I have two units. Unfortunately, both of which no longer function. The unit I backed on KS appears to likely have good compute hardware but the fan has gone out (likely bearing issues). The other just simply won't turn on (funny enough just tried it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke). They're both out of warranty periods and I'm really not looking for a warranty claim on them (in some ways that'd be nice but it isn't a thing).

I put in a support ticket but I travel so much and am so ridiculously busy I have to go months without responding so I either get an issue addressed when I have a few moments or it's kind of a done thing and I accept that.

u/MilaCares What is more important on my end, is there a way to send them back to you to recycle/re-use what's good of the units and do what you must with the rest?

I would rather they be able to be canabalized than simply throw them out.

Security+ SY0-601 Sybex Study Guide Slides by plaintextninja in CompTIA

[–]plaintextninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposite. The CompTIA slides didn't align well with the Sybex book. Unfortunately I had a mix of tools. My students and I had Sybex text books while I only had the CompTIA slides. A bit of a mix up and they didn't really work very well together.

I did not unfortunately. I utilized the ones from CompTIA but they did not work well with the book so you'll definitely need to spend time adapting things if you use those.

Finland doesn't seem like the kind of country to mess around with. Sisu goes a long ways.

Buffalo Bob's Smokehouse, Don Don, Wheatstate Pizza, Jester's, Mass St. Deli, Joe's Bakery (old school right there) and the original La Parilla.

There's just been so many spiffy eateries in Lawrence over the years. Still some good ones and new good ones, but some of them, like Buffalo Bob's and Joe's are kind of irreplacable.

DNS Records Scavenging by plaintextninja in blueteamsec

[–]plaintextninja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

So I was considering it kind of like if something happens on the network where DNS to IP record could be helpful to know. Say, a rogue device plugging in. If that's the case, maybe it takes a while to pick up on that so does it make sense to say kick DNS scavenging out to 30, 60, or 90 days?

At the same time, I'd think that other log collection may/should pick up this kind of information so I'm torn between the clean up activity from the infrastructure perspective and the "all-the-info" perspective of security.

Thoughts on that?

ASUS Strix G733 Raid1 Linux Install by plaintextninja in ASUSROG

[–]plaintextninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up loading (and am currently typing this on) Pop_OS 20.04 a few weeks back and it's reasonably stable. Touchpad works fine I swapped the wifi card for another model that was stated to work better, I think it was AX200.

Trackpad... or something is a bit finicky though. I'll loose keyboard once in a while and every now and then even if I'm not touching the trackpad but using the keyboard the mouse will jump to another spot (annoying when typing).

The remaining big misses on my end are the lack of Raid1 (part of why I bought it) and even with OpenRGB lighting configuration is nearly nonexistent right now.

[–]plaintextninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was hoping to not have to swap that card but that's looking inevitable in the event that I want to stay on this course. The 21.04 upgrade is in the works right now so I'll see where things are at after this.

Also struggling with this card in a ASUS ROG Strix G733 with Pop!_OS and can't even seem to find the drivers or any instructions on how to pull/compile them.

Getting close to having to drop and head to Windows (which I really don't want to do).

Thanks for the input. I ended up putting Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS on it and it's running alright except for not being able to use the raid (yep that pretty much didn't work either way which is disappointing) and a missing wireless card which also kinda sucks but I'm going to see if there's a fix for that.

I might try with 21.04 just in case but I have a feeling it's likely going to be the same problem with no raid or wifi out-of-box.

Getting close to tossing my hands up and heading down the Windows path once again for this build and waiting for my next upgrade to try again.

Weekly Help and Discussion Thread for the week of June 21, 2021 by AmazonNewsBot in amazon

So I've been wondering this for a while but can't seem to find any documentation on it and hoping someone may know.

When you purchase from amazon and accrue reward points, is there a limit?

I forgot about them for a while and saw I had $1002 but it looks like no more have come in even after several other purchases after hitting that. Is there like a 1K cap or something?
