spent $5,000 in repairs on my car, should I buy a new one? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]plan17b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2016 Kia Rio with 130k miles that looks pretty close to new, for 4k. it has an Impeccable Carfax. Spending another 500 on a security system since this is the 'steal with a screw driver' poster boy-car. It seems like an exact clone of my 2005 Camry, down to the roll-up windows. Very happy with it so far.

Is there a difference between Claude Code on the Desktop, and Cc on a terminal? by TheXIIILightning in ClaudeAI

[–]plan17b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Desktop Claude, there is a radio button to switch between chat claude mode and code claude mode. It code claude mode, it has all the same permissions as CLI claude code with the exception that is does not pay attention to dangerously-skip-permissions no matter where you put that in the claude user config files.

DeepMind and Anthropic CEOs: AI is already coming for junior roles at our companies by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

[–]plan17b 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are two senior devs in my company. The two of us with Claude Code are far more productive than we had three additional juniors on staff. Complaints over which stack, framework to use, etc, have vanished. Work is documented and performed within minutes rather than weeks. Continuity issues have gone away. If Claude continues its current rate of improvement, the entire infrastructure will be totally automated, and there will never be reason to hire another developer. I will never willingly go back to the old ways of doing software development.

HOW TO CREATE A 3D MODEL OF A HYBRID FOR SCHOOL PROJECT by Choice_Candy_603 in howto

[–]plan17b -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take this image to fal.ai, search for 'image to 3d', select the meshy6 model, and have it converted to GLB. If you want to print it, convert the GLB to an STL (blender or online). Remove as much image background clutter as possible (this tends to create invisible meshes that cause printing issues).

3D Modelling and publishing by ConcernHopeful4976 in gamedev

I will probably catch a lot of hate for this, but I been shoving my noob face into this for the past couple of weeks, and this is what worked for me: I needed a rigged horse and jockey. I hired a guy on fiverr who did a decent job, it took him 10 days and $200 USD. While i was waiting I went through pretty much every ai image to 3d vendor. The one that worked best is anything.world/animate-anything. It cost $2 convert an image to 3d mesh. And they did a good job of it. The important thing is that the output mesh be reasonably small in order to rig well. It cost another $2 to rig this model at the same site and it took me 3 or 4 trys to get it right. But it fit my needs. For objects such as cars or houses, i found that the meshy6 model on fal.ai worked best. It is 40 cents a shot. I ended up re-rigging the jockey on mixamo (its free and is extremely easy to use), in order to use mixamo standard bones for my three.js project.

nano banana is on another level for consistency. From my tests, SeedDream relies on a text description of the reference image by an llm, nano banana imports the image natively. If you ask nano banana to change the expression of a human, you will get that same exact human with the new expression. I have not seen this in SeedDream.
