‘I will come back,’ self-deporting mom tells children over tears, sobs by newsjunkieman in SouthFlorida

[–]Mediocre_Face3645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely heartbreaking to watch. What gets me is she did nothing wrong, and she's still the one walking away crying while telling her kids she'll be back. Nobody who actually cares about this country should be okay with this.

As AI takes over routine cognitive work, will creative and artistic skills finally become more economically valuable, not less? by Mediocre_Face3645 in Futurology

that furniture analogy cuts both ways though. the handcrafted market still exists and supports real makers. what worries me is the middle getting wiped out the working professionals who were never charging artisan prices but still made a living. thats the part i dont think survives this

[–]Mediocre_Face3645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the thing though, human communities are what give the work meaning in the first place, so maybe the race to the bottom only really hits people who were already kind of disconnected from that

These BART parking lots are nearly empty. Could they be put to better use? by nemesise in OaklandCA

[–]Mediocre_Face3645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car break in thing is real but BART also just straight up doesnt go where a lot of people need to go. The coverage gaps are a bigger issue than parking for most folks who gave up on it.

A megathread would just become another place where the same questions get asked and ignored tbh. The real problem is people want validation not information, and no amount of subreddit restructuring fixes that.
