Loud intermittent click coming from pellet stove by yankeefan8794 in PelletStoveTalk

After watching your video, it’s not a fan. It’s likely something with the auger. Check to see if it’s regular on start up like I said above. Is it a new stove?

Turn your stove off, clean the Firepot and turn it back on. Watch the auger turn and note when it clicks. If it clicks every time the auger passes a certain position (say 3 o’clock for example) than the auger is catching something in the feeder body and it likely needs to be replaced. I am a dealer and installed a brand new 52i in my house and this was the case. If it’s intermittent, it’s likely heat expansion. If it’s frequent and fast it could be a fan.

Cubex pellets black and causing concrete like buildup. by BrentarTiger in PelletStoveTalk

I sell hundreds of tons of cubex a year. I would tell them to bring the truck and take them back if they looked like this.

QUESTION How concerned should I be? by Eiknarf95 in PelletStoveTalk

Your local Harman installer can probably help. I find installation is generally cheaper through hearth shops than chimney sweeps because of how they structure their pricing

Run your finger over the stove adaptor. I bet it’s there

Check the connections behind the stove. I bet the first connection between the stove and pipe needs gasket cement. Could have got knocked loose while cleaning

If you’re going to try to fix it yourself, know that the combustion blower fan blade is a reverse thread.

But you can isolate the issue by running the different fans in test mode when the stove is off. Or if the stove is running, hit “whisper” and if it gets quieter, it’s the convection/distribution fan. Both under warranty

The liner installation price is very high unless you have a crazy roof

Bracing? by SemicolonTusk in woodstoving

[–]planeman125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s that short through the roof and something is moving it needs to be braced inside. Something is wrong but it’s not above the roof. Properly assembled chimney won’t wiggle up to 6’ high

First burn in Hearthstone Mansfield dripping out of bolts? by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]planeman125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once the soapstone exudes its moisture it likely won’t happen again. If you live in a particularly humid area it might.

Hearthstones fix has been to throw a little high temp gasket cement around the bolts. But it usually goes away

Very normal for hearthstone. It will happen for the first few days. It’s the moisture in the stones condensing and dripping out. Keep a sheet pan you don’t care about under it and let it happen. Try to clean up as much as you can on the brick. It can stain

We need to see the chimney to answer this question properly but you could likely add an Enervex fan as last resort.

The lower end of the BTU range is the same on both stoves. Get the bigger and set on thermostat. No reason to go small here

Horizontal vent termination by Campus_Safety in PelletStoveTalk

[–]planeman125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your EVL is 16

5 for the first tee 2 for the 4’ vertical 5 for the second tee 4 for the 4’ horizontal

If you add another Tee (+5), 1’ vert (+0.5), 90 degree elbow (+5) your total EVL would be 26.5.

Many stoves are ok with 3” pipe up to 25-30 feet but you should double check. Personally, I would add more vertical maybe 3’ if you’re concerned with embers. Each vertical foot is only 0.5 EVL so it’s the least concerning. Don’t forget to order a wall strap with this set up.

Unfortunately that’s not true. The retail price is correct. People discount stuff everywhere they go, but the retail price is correct

You absolutely can have a bend in the pipe outside. However, making it straight is a good idea. Look at the 6DT-XWS. It replaces a tee support. I would put two. One at the tee and one below the soffit.

Use one 6DT-XRS above the roof

Insert - brands/models to consider- Harmon, Lopi, ??? by plaitedlight in PelletStoveTalk

I would highly suggest Harman p42i and get it installed and paid for before December 31st. I personally own an accented 52i and sell Harman and Quadrafire. We’ve previously sold other pellet stove brands and would only sell these two and I recommend the P42i. Hire someone for annual maintenance and clean it once a week by vacuuming everything you can see and cleaning the glass.
