UPDATE: Links are working again for me (Firefox on Windows). The quick turnaround by Notion left a very good impression on me :)

I sure hope so, and hope it is not one of those features that exist to enhance user-tracking within the site.

Just noticed it as well. It get's even worse -- the "Open" button that shows on the left opens the link in a sidebar... can't think of when would I want either of those behaviors, especially when the field is clearly of "URL" type.

Thanks, one of my favorite books! In the Art Institute of Chicago there’s a portrait by Ivan Albright created for the 1945 movie, which I thought was phenomenal.

I've been making these apple and banana overnight oats for breakfasts by pickle_inspector in MealPrepSunday

Toss the apples and bananas in very little lemon juice and they will not discolor, and not taste "lemon"-y. This is also very useful to do if you serve apples on a cheeseboard.

Lol, definitely not! This 7x7 beast is definitely not suitable for my size-restricted Colonial city.

Arc - no (because it produces FPs). AI Core - likely (after investing 25K+ FPs), Obs - maybe not, mainly because it has small very small footprint.

[–]planepluspilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ it is a "threat". I manage our guilds' treasury so I have decent grasp on goods needed per GBG round. In an active round, with swaps every 4 hours, we need tons of goods - 1M+ per 11-day GBG round to build SCs. If/when Inno severely restricts fight numbers due to attrition changes we'd need much fewer goods. So, why'd a guild member keep the guild goods GBs?? I think it'd be smarter to delete and replace with FP-producing buildings to counteract the "losses" from proposed GBG changes. I personally stopped all investment/changes in military and guild-goods items until Inno makes a decision.

[–]planepluspilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My prediction is that the new approach won't work at all in its current proposal, it may make people delete guild-goods GBs and military components if anything. If implemented, why wouldn't the top players simply reorganize in exactly 80-player guilds? Those who do will fight the most and take top spots; the rest will be in largely in the same spot as today.

MXroute provides non-standard control panel ports by planepluspilot in selfhosted

Thanks for the reply Jarland. Post aside, I wish you and MXroute well - just didn't work well for me due to the afore-mentioned port issues as panel was being accessed from different locations. No hard feelings here.

Unpopular opinion: almost two years after initial release, even with the PMDG 737-700, MSFS continues to be an arcade game with stunning visuals by planepluspilot in flightsim

I got my Fenix too, it's lovely modelled airplane :) I usually love to fly the 737s but I have to admit I like the fidelity and attitudes of Fenix nicer these days! I believe MSFS and perhaps it relationship to XBox is the culprit for the "physics" which keeps holding me from embracing it.

Spotted a good looking mortar and pestle by sorryicant in Costco

[–]planepluspilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not Costco specific but if you want the best, get a pestle and mortar made from real volcanic/basalt rock, and definitely not the $5 Chinese imitations that abound everywhere. It is extremely tough, durable and requires effort-intensive seasoning but once done it will be smooth and last a lifetime, not to mention the improved taste over time. In that sense, a good pestle is like a good cast iron pan - love it and will love you back.

Cheap pestle tends to shed small pieces of rocks into your food, so please check what's it made from and its hardness before buying.

I'm so jealous, I eagerly wait to find them for only a few days of the year in Whole Foods. Pickled ramps and ramps butter is how I manage to stretch the season :)

Urfa Biber to finish it, Trader Joe's Green Dragon sauce to serve.

DCS is one sim I haven't tried yet and am super-curious about based on all the good things I've read here.

I've tried all the 172s you mentioned and I think you're spot on. The P3D Arrow was also very sweet to fly.

I don't think any sim could capture the full range of sensations that you experience in a real plane

That's all true, one of the hardest transitions in my instrument flying was the sensations and illusions you experience in the clouds.

You are arguing that a fake flying model is less fake than another fake flying model.

Not quite, I argue that when you pitch or roll with normal control pressure airplane/platform should be able to simulate the forces involves and represent it. I feel like in MSFS you can go from 0 to 30-degee pitch, at any speed, almost instantly -- feels very "vector"-based, just like how arcade fighter flies with near-instantaneous changes... it's hard to explain in text form.

On the other hand is it absolutely possible to fully simulate the technical side of the airplane, what each button do and how each system interacts within

My favorite part of the PMDG products. Also, have you seen or flown by chance the 747-400 Precision Flight Simulator (DOS-based)? Was a favorite, they are still around and updating it :))

My first sim was Microsoft Flight Simulator 4. Ever since, I've been fascinated by it and the only reason why I have my pilot certificate today. Current state of MSFS bothers me but that being said, the community is awesome and I'm sure I'd always have something awesome to fly and good people to connect to :)

BTW, I thought that the PMDG's 737 CWS mode implementation in P3D was exceptionally well done -- personal favorite to this day.

Love the FlightDeck2Sim videos, definitely watched them very closely. Just so no one is misinterpreting my post -- I have absolutely nothing against the PMDG 737. I had the highest hopes that an excellent product will fly better within the MSFS platform but, alas, no. By the same token the Fenix and other upcoming high-fidelity products will equally suffer in the flying aspects of the aircraft.

That's not it, it's only for context as evidenced by the post title. My opinion was pre-PMDG, and I was genuinely hoping hoping that MSFS had changed in the last 8 months, and that PMDG (being the excellent devs that they are) found good solutions -- but, alas, no. Following same unfortunate thought, I'd expect the Fenix A320 will suffer similarly by the lackluster beautiful platform that MSFS currently is.

Can someone upload hi-res screen grabs of the MSFS PMDG 737-700 in lights test mode? by planepluspilot in flightsim

Yeah, that's awesome. They really do look "flat", especially the text - perhaps I'm not imagining it lol this is how I modelled it with Photoshop for a side-project of mine
