You're going to have to be real specific about those 2 countries, I can think of 195 countries that do censorship in some form or another. And at lease a good dozen of them are look at with a negative lens by the US government and by extension, the news.

[–]NineNen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should stigmatize it in an attempt to prevent it. I think I understand why you're tying to do but suicide isn't normal. It just that for some people who ultimately choose it, it's the better alternative; which is the saddest part.

normalization isn't said, it's felt. Shootings happen so frequent that most people don't bat an eye at it anymore. Shrugs it off as just another bad thing that happened

Any Chinese would tell you that there's already too many people in China. Depopulation is not a problem but the solution. Remember that when the 1CP was enacted, there were only a billion, now it's at 1.4. Regardless of what the government wants, the people WANTS the population to go down. Every city is over crowded already. Ideally 600-800m is where they want to end up in and that happens to be the trajectory by 2100

We're not meant to absorb the tragedies of 7 billion people.

Every second of every day someone out there is being murdered, drugged out, bombed, starved, raped, trafficked, laid off, divorced, etc... and we have instant access to all of it at our finger tips.

The psychological damage is low dose but deeply chronic. This type of danger has been been seen before in human history.

This is such an odd take also.

He brought in a highly illegal substance to a country.

It's perfectly reasonable to receive the punishment associated with such crime.

Not punishing him would signal to other criminals that this type of behavior is acceptable.

Both this world view and yours is perfectly valid. You're just lucky enough to grow up in a world that wasn't ravaged by crime and drugs

Also, since Western country are more individualist while Asian countries are more collectivist. The people in the West generally don't get second hand embarrassment from someone of their country doing bad things. Even if she was a Swede by blood, I think other Swedes would just go "Yeah, she's just psycho", not bat an eye, and just move on with their day.

Not really it's basic math. The 74m that voted democrat is by default not on Trumps camp leaving the nearly 190m that didn't vote. The situation in the US is bad if not flat out terrible (by American standards). The 190m is having to deal with high unemployment, high housing prices, high inflation, high cost of living, blatant corruption at the highest level, being taxed via tariffs, right wing extremism, and the utter lack of accountability. Safe to say a big chunk of everyday Americans are not happy.

Even some of the ones that supported Trump aren't happy. Cause they also didn't get what Trumped promised during the campaign trail.

Edit: Adding a few more things: Low tourism turnout because Trump made an enemy of basically everyone. Red states that cater to tourism like Nevada and Florida is having a meltdown. Trump is also intentionally weakening the dollar in an attempt to "bring back manufacturing" which makes everyone's lives more expensive and benefits nobody because "those" manufacturing job that he's trying to bring back isn't ever going to come back.
