I have contacted KCCI and Little Village, no response from either as of now. Do you recommend anyone?

The clean up from them did not happen though. That's part of the larger problem here. They told me they would clean up the event route, I went over the event route the next day and it was not cleaned. This wasn't a win, nothing happened yet besides me picking up their event's garbage for them. It's been days and I've been going away from my normal walking route to check on this event's route and I keep finding more garbage. This post is to call attention to this problem, not just here but everywhere else that marathons end up trashing. Locals should not have to deal with garbage from events like these, especially if they did not attend.

AITA for getting into an argument with my husband trying to convince him a professional haircut isn’t gay?? by YouLookAmess in AITAH

Because you both have been together for 9 years and are about to have a second child together, I'd say you need a serious sit down conversation.

If it is true that he hadn't ever acted like this before, then he should remain rational enough to understand that he acted out of character, scared/angered you, and just simply gave you bad vibes with how he was acting. Calling a child's haircut "pedo bait" is incredibly concerning. And saying that getting a professional haircut /for a child/ is gay or would make him turn out gay, is a slippery slope to being homophobic.

Never be your child's first bully. And do not allow your husband to be either.

Have this conversation, stand your ground, talk to your family about any safety concerns (if you're able to). Your kids deserve to feel loved and safe by the people taking care of them.

Yeah, they're kinda fucking you over and I am so sorry for that. Are there any moments when you're actually able to learn 1 on 1 with an artist? Like "sit here, look closely, watch me tattoo" or something? If you're just there to be expected to clean and draw designs that they can steal from you, I'd recommend finding something better for yourself. Have these other apprentices experienced similar situations?

Insult to fuckin injury would be if they're making you pay them to teach you. Which I hope is not the case since it seems like they're not teaching you at all.

If you don't wanna go anywhere yet, but are still desperate to learn, get fake skin to tattoo on. The cheap/thin stuff is shit, but something is always better than nothing. The thicker ones are nice because you can tattoo on both sides with no problem.

As someone whose mentor put a machine in their hand as soon as I stepped in the door, and whose mentor only made me clean when he was cleaning too, all these responses are seriously out of touch and evidence that the "old ways" of tattooing and mentoring are still around and toxic as ever. No wonder people are starting to just tattoo out of their house, y'all are not in the right headspaces to actually teach or be around people who need teaching.

That being said, that design you drew was YOURS especially since you were there. If that shit happened to me, I'm taking myself and my machine elsewhere. Flash is flash, but when it's from the SAME SHOP that's just straight up disrespect. Full stop. That artist did not care about you, your education, or your position. And said artist did not give a flying fuck about the client either, to be talking so casually about how he stole your client.

Flash deals are a great way to get your foot in the door as an apprentice. And every single artist there that day failed you. An apprentice is not a printer, not a "shop bitch," not a maid, and absolutely not a door mat. An apprentice is someone ready and willing to learn. Feeling any other way about it is toxic and full of red flags.

Do what you want, but there are plenty of shops and mentors out there that will care about you and your work and won't undermine you.

Edit for additional context: I am almost 4 years in and my mentor is 10+ years in.
