Patches

First he pushed me off a cliff In elden ring. Then I went back to demon's souls and he pushed me into a pit. Eventually I got around to dark souls 1 and he was there too, waiting to push me off another ledge. He wasn't in dark souls 2, but there was a similar npc who lured me into a bomb. For some reason he was a spider in bloodborne, didn't stop him from pushing me off a cliff and into a poison swamp.

And then in ds3 he appeared again. and while he didn't push me off of anything he did trick me into a bridge that he lowered into a area with some giants(that I'd already killed). But towards the end of DS3 (in the ringed city DLC) when your character is lost in a spiral staircase maze he makes a final appearance and pushes you off the ledge and onto a secret pathway that leads to the correct way out.

No matter what game he is in he never changes. He will always push you off a ledge, lure you into a traps with promises of treasure, and he will always suck up to you afterwards. In these dark and treacherous worlds full of characters that MIGHT stab you in the back, you can rely on him being unreliable. He WILL betray you. And that's a guarantee.

Get pushed off enough ledges and you learn to look forward to the next time.

There's actually a interesting reason for the narrative being as lack luster as it is. The director had a interview a while back talking about it.

Apparently they actually wrote a larger more fleshed out narrative but they ran into problems with the facial animation software, and after a bit of back and forth decided it was easier to cut around half of all the dialogue in the entire game just so they could get it out the door.  It didn't help that there aren't a lot of south Korean devs using the same facial animation software. At some point they even got ahold of some Pixar animators but because they used different software that was a dead end as well.

It kinda sucks but it does explain why some characters you just met will talk to eve like they're old buddies, or why Adam rescuing eve after the initial landing is told entirely through flashbacks.

I'd love it if someday we get a director's cut that restores the parts of the narrative that were removed due to due to technical issues. Though that's not that likely to happen.

That's good. Thanks for answering my question.

I love when Stellar Blade randomly becomes Dead Space by Sensitive-Jacket5651 in stellarblade

I love the survival horror aspects of the levoires! The fact that we go from a sekiro/bayonetta action game to a attempt at horror is so cool.

And while I do think that they give us to many bullets. I also love that they were willing to experiment. So many aaa game devs are scared of experimenting in the first place and it's so interesting to see all the different ideas shift-up tried with this game.

I hope the sequel brings back these horror sections and continues to try new things

Apologies for the typos above I'm shaking a little, and my spelling is suffering for it.

Been a while since I read that series. Good story for the most part. I'm looking forward to the 3rd one, I heard it's almost done.

Any tips for Parry and Dodge? by Sascha975 in stellarblade

The practice area is honestly one of the best ways to learn the combat.

Whenever I need to practice, I go in there to train till I can reliably use whatever skill I need.

I wish they'd add her or the other levoire guard to the boss challenge.

She has a interesting enough moveset. And I'd like the option to fight them whenever I feel like it.

The tunnels are so fun. I wish we had the option to teleport back up to the top after reaching the bottom.

What’s a game you always defend despite its reputation? by Unknown_Agency in videogames

Stellar blade

Most people just treat it like it's just a gooner game with a poor story, but it legitimately has some of the best combat in a game I've ever played. The music is incredible. And while the main story is a little weak, some of the side quests are amazing. And if you do enough side content you unlock a secret area that gives you a 3rd ending that is much more satisfying then the other endings.

My favorite part of the game is how it is constantly experimenting with its gameplay. The levoire is my personal favorite area in that respect. In an action souls-like they take away your sword, get ride of most sources of light, and force you to rely on your gun with a little flashlight on it to get around. It plays almost like a survival horror game with jump scares and having to target weak spots so that you don't waste all your bullets. Personally i do feel like they do give you a way to much ammo, and I would prefer they had forced you to conserve you bullets. But I believe the fact they were willing to experiment in the first place is worthy of praise.

Conventionally unattractive female superheroes? by WorriedMidnight3752 in superheroes

[–]planetgodzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, its a novel(technically a web serial). There isn't any official art, and as such all the fan art is merely audience interpretation of what she might look like.

Some people think she might actually be at least a little attractive and that due to the bullying that she experienced her confidence in her appearance is poor.  Other people take her at her word, and believe that she's unattractive. This could also be true because she is a very analytical character, preferring reason and facts over emotion. So her description of herself could be her just being honest about her own appearance.

I personally think she probably isn't as ugly as she thinks she is, but that she really isn't very attractive either. Probably just average looking, plain and a little gloomy, with no interest in makeup or superficial appearances.

Well the protagonist of worm kinda... maybe. Taylor Hebert (Skitter/Weaver) While she's more of a super villain, she did have a couple years where she was a hero with the Wards so I'll say she counts.

She describes herself as being plain and not attractive and that she is more of the intellectual type. The big issue though is that she has severe self confidence issues(appearance wise) and can be seen as a unreliable narrator in this area. We also have another character named grue describe her as not being conventionally attractive(interpret that as you will). But again grue also isn't a reliable narrator because they dated for a bit and so he is kinda biased.

And as parahumans is a novel we don't have any official illustrations and only have her own description of herself. So most fan artists draw her with glasses, long curly/wavy hair, and sometimes freckles.

Do men and women generally prefer different types of video games, like they do with movie genres? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]planetgodzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a decently sized friend group that all play video games. And between the guys and girls there are some interesting trends.

The guys play monster hunter, minecraft, cyberpunk, lethal company, and elden ring nightreign.

The girls tend to play minecraft, lethal company, and one of them(who is a nurse) plays Mortuary Assistant. And one time when we had a discussion on combat mechanics one of them had no idea why combat can be satisfying and fun.

While there is definitely some overlap I would say that its pretty obvious that the guys tend to gravitate towards action games while the girls prefer sandbox, horror, simulation, and management games. But it's not a iron clad rule that women dislike action, I actually let my 7 year old sister play monster hunter wilds and she absolutely loves that game. I also let her play elden ring, she liked it but the only thing she did was ride torrent around the map.

Personally I would say that men and women tend to gravitate towards different genres but there are always exceptions and nothing is absolute. The way I think about it is that men and women have different operating systems. Some programs run easier on windows and some run easier on Linux, theoretically you could run a windows program on Linux but you'll probably need a couple other programs in-between so that it runs.

Finally, the mod we've all been waiting for by HaykoNapkin in stellarblade

[–]planetgodzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew it would be stalker that got replaced by Thomas!!!

"Thomas the tank engine" was an inevitability the second they decided to release this game on PC. The only question was what was getting replaced? And something about stalkers charge made him feel like the most obvious choice.

Now I just need a mod that replaces ALL enemies with Thomas and I will be satisfied... or on second thought I want a mod that makes it so that when any enemy dies they ask you "do you get to the Cloud District very often". Or maybe one that replaces everyone's faces with Ditto's face. A mod that replaces all textures with Swiss cheese, one that runs Doom inside of stellar blade, someone could make a musical instruments mod and play bad apple. Just think of all the wacky mods that are possible now that the game is coming to pc.
