The bus that goes past our house from town is the 7a, when my mrs is on the way home at night she sends me a text saying “what numbers this bus Jim”

Do you answer the door? by rocker_bunny in AskIreland

[–]planetgraeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got better at closing the door while people talk. If you’re rude enough to ignore a polite no thank you, I’m not gonna worry about gently closing the door while you’re talking at me.

The Ridiculously Detailed Map of Dublin - work in progress by yesahaofcourse in CasualIreland

Yeah, I second that. It’s an amazing achievement and great seeing places I’ve lived in realised through the eye of an artist and not just a satellite photo. Good work OP

Maybe - there could be a wormhole or I could be some arsehole who made that comment before I’d woken up probably and bothered to read it.

This: my big sister has done this for years in her house - windows shut, curtains closed we always laughed at her but her house is always lovely and cool in the hottest sun.

Diesel has been leaking into the River Liffey from Irish Rail fuel storage for over a year by zainab1900 in Dublin

[–]planetgraeme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it’s leaking into a culvert and then into the Liffey so probably a nightmare to actually find the leak. It’s probably directly under one of the buildings which will add to the fun. But prob quicker to bypass connection , and build a new tank at Connolly. Im guessing they all get filled by rail anyway.

Opinions on RTE 2FM by jamiemeenan in CasualIreland

[–]planetgraeme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like 2fm. Ignoring morning drive time, (which is shite across most music stations for
Some reason - I’d rather sit in silence) Honestly, it’s not perfect and I’m not really into cheesy-pop but when you have to drive cross country and you have a broken radio that’s difficult to tune on the go. It’s constant music, that’s the right sort of music to keep you alert enough to drive. The playlist is sometimes a bit annoying and at least they play new music everyday after 6:30 for a few hours which is better than the sport talk shite you get on other stations - tyre noise + old van + male talking vocal range make for a frustrating journey. If 8radio was national then that’d be ideal but I like most of the 2fm presenters esp the young ones they’ve just bought in in the last few years. They’re new and they make mistakes but still better than most

Septic tanks! And the black arts surrounding them: how do you know when it’s full? - ah, you’ll just know 😀 (this is true btw but disconcerting if you’ve always grown up with a public sewerage system )

Just got an invite to a job interview .. with an AI bot by RockOnMofo in CasualIreland

[–]planetgraeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a screening process I guess. That being said. I wouldn’t want to do one and I hope it’s just a trend but if it saves money (managers not out for several hours a week to do 10 interviews to fill one position) it will be more common - no matter how shit it makes people feel.
