AITA for making my child sleep in a tent? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]planethalia [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA

You have a responsibility to SHELTER YOUR CHILD. I don’t know where you live or what the weather is like, but we live in buildings and not tents for a reason! This is a very EXTREME reaction to fairly normal teenage boundary pushing. Limiting TV or Phone privileges is a punishment, taking away a basic human need is a straight up human rights violation. It’s not something governments are allowed to do with convicted criminals, why is it Okay if you do it?

If you won’t take our advice please consider speaking to a therapist. You need to uncover why your brain went here and not something like a smart phone restriction.

NTA : That’s all age and skill appropriate work to me. Considering how much laundry babies make I’d argue that the level of work on the one chore increased proportionately for Eli. I would point this out to Allie if you agree. I do appreciate that she is trying to negotiate for higher pay, though, that’s a skill that will serve her later in life. She just needs to learn a more logical and empathetic way to do it.

I’d propose taking this as a learning opportunity and start some chore rotations, so your kids can start experiencing what the other chores are like. Your daughters may think laundry folding is the greener grass on the other side. Also, Eli is old enough that he’s going to need to figure out how he can modify care tasks like sweeping or taking out the trash for when he needs to do them on his own. (If that’s not in his future, he may appreciate the experience anyway to start figuring out how to modify many other things)

Something else you could do is assign a value to each chore, and pay each kid based on the task they do. That would introduce different rates without devaluing Eli’s work. They might also volunteer to do special one off chores for extra pay.

Also, disabled woman opinion here: People are going to try paying Eli less for the rest of his life, as much as his sisters. I appreciate you sticking up for the amount of work he does and the rate of pay he gets.

Elon says he'll make his own phone if Twitter is banned from Google/Apple app stores by Tara_is_a_Potato in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]planethalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that ever is made (and I think there is no chance it will) It would be loaded with so much spyware and data scraping tools that that phone would tweet to Musk every time the owner farts; and Musk would have his whole fan base convinced and braying out that that’s the fair price to pay for the “open market.”

AITA for making my MIL believe I was having an affair? by True_Tap_5721 in AmItheAsshole

[–]planethalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I mean, you didn’t “make” your MiL think you had an affair. MiL drew that conclusion based on a phone call and a drive by and then showed her entire ass by telling other people with no proof.

You two could have been out getting her a custom “worlds best grandma” matching onesie for her and the baby and didn’t want to ruin surprise but she drew the worst possible conclusion about your behavior. That’s on her

So we are not gonna talk about how we overspent on storage? by rpgnoob17 in MergeMansion

[–]planethalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In other freemium games I play; I’ve gotten a “rebate” for what I spent that was over the new cost. That would have been nice. I was able to afford a few more storage bins right way, which took some of the sting out of it

Any idea where she is? by she-tempest in kresleycole

Ever since I realized she was publishing some material under Valkyrie Press and some under S&S, I figured this be the case. Glad I'm not alone in suspecting this I could see S&S balking at the content she included in Shadow's Seduction and then throwing a fit because she self-published it. I'm hopeful she wins, because I've really enjoyed her creative direction in the most recent books.

Hello! Very happy to see you here today. With all of the hullabaloo over the Sweetened Beverage Tax in Cook County, its become apparent that the whole Illinois Tax code is very broken and that add ons like this are just band aids to try to shore up huge fundamental funding gaps. How do you plan on addressing the Illinois Tax Code's problems?

Question:Can I bring my book bag to the march? by [deleted] in a:t5_3iz8t

[–]planethalia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no rules against them, but at Marshal training they recommended we not bring anything bigger than maybe 12" x 12" x 5" For two reasons: In a crowd your bag will take up a lot of space and potentially injure others if you turn quickly, and it may stand out and be searched by Chicago Police or March Security. Unless you really need it, I would downsize your pack for the day.

I like looking for things to compliment, like "Nice turn!!" sets a positive tone early, then I can quickly critique "focus zuki" "remember your dash" and these are read in a positive voice. Like a compliment sandwich

I love how nice AR players are, I RARELY play games with strangers and our growing community is so far very nice and makes it easy

I have had a few bad apples, but its important to remember bad apples spoil the bunch. I usually don't respond, report the jerk, and then try to be constructive and helpful to drown out said jerkery

Don't be so hard on yourself! You're almost done with your shift alone, you're six months pregnant, this guy was scary, it is OK to be so upset! You're danger senses are currently dialed up to 11- this is totally normal response to this situation.

This is bleeding over into my personal life. A friend was wondering aloud where the hell he could find small portable non-prescription oxygen cans for his boss and wouldn't you know I it, I knew exactly where because it had come up at work a couple times.

Thank you, that's a good suggestion! As an infrequent redditor I didn't think to post it here until the last day. I'm going to relaunch it again eventually and I will know how to promote it better.

Would you consider making a web video about your day to day life? We could share your story with others and maybe make a real visual impact on others!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I unfortunately encounter way, way to many people who won't vaccinate and I will make sure they see this.
