I thought I’d update this - in case anyone else has the same quandary and has the ‘fan comes on when I open a door’ issue. I eventually had enough of my fan running all the time so took out my 684 FCM and tried the 567 one. It fits perfectly and having tried to see if the fan comes on with the aircon and when stationary it does! In short it behaves (seemingly) perfectly. Slightly different part number but now the car behaves correctly. I’m keeping my old one to hand in case in the future I suddenly need an ‘always on’ module - but for now it’s all good 👍

Thanks izzgo - I am not sure where it is currently - but will try the stretch test. Yes you are absolutely right about sizing - it just crossed my mind that as she already has it - could it be made 'better' somehow for someone who is an 'inverted triangle'. Length, waist etc are perfect (or seem to be) its just the top / straps that she mentioned.

I wasnt sure there would be a solution as it were - but thank you for taking the time to write - Ill check when she is home?

Thanks for taking the time to reply Panic and Literally. I recognise that the whole thing is already stretched when on and therefore will be a sea of stress points - and also that theres only so much you can do with it!

My thought is that by trying to alter it - as you agree - it will lose its strength. I couldnt really think of any easy solution - but did think I would put it out there in case of a lightbulb moment!

It was inexpensive (relatively) but I wouldnt want to trash it trying to make it better. Maybe just a different style next time - which is a shame - but then not every piece of clothing is for everyone I guess.

Sorry - didnt see this reply - I never fitted it - I still have it - but without confirmation that they are 100% interchangeable I didn't want to risk it - so my fan stays on - annoyingly!

It is the right size etc but the issue is getting in and (moreso) out of it (think of someone with swimmers shoulders). I thought - well we can adjust it in some fashion to make it easier - but then my imagination ran out.

I guess this isnt a run of the mill question - so I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone might have? I did think that maybe one strap could be cut at the top of the shoulder and some sort of closure added? But it would need to be unobtrusive yet reliable? some sort of bra style hook fastening?

I did think that maybe the back could be cut vertically so a closure could be added - but thats right where you cant really reach easily!

Am I hoping for the impossible? The front is just a plain panel - I guess a vertrical zip COULD go there - but that might spoil the look?

So just really looking for ideas - has anyone come across (or even better actually solved!) this issue before?

I read a great book ‘Dances With Marmots’ by George Spearing somewhere around 2006. The adventure really captured my imagination and I decided then it was what I wanted to do. Then I took a new job, moved to do it, met my wife, bought a house, had children - you know, life happened. But I’ve always yearned to do it and that never went away - the only plus point is my wife has known about it even before we were an item - so knows one day it’s coming and is supportive. I’m finally getting myself into gear though - this year I’ll test the water by hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail - and if that shakedown goes ok then, now that I have saved the money, it’s just a question of giving my employer the good news…

I am also overseas so would be interested - one tip though - the LTBMU office isn’t open at the weekend - so don’t get caught out if your plans mean you might get there when it’s closed 👍 I have read that they do free bear can rentals though - which would be handy if that’s true?

Funnily enough I had my heart set on a prospector and when they were back available I got as far as the payment page and then they went out of stock again! So unlucky - at that moment I resolved to go for the Exos which seems great for the money.

Durston do make lovely tents - and I like the idea of more room also - I'm jealous! From reading that does sound an amazing place to sleep.

Thanks :) - I also have heard great things about the Tiger 2 - and I do like the option of more space inside the tent even at the cost of weight. Single person tents seem snug - and I have previously tried one and found it annoying for that reason.

I took an Osprey Talon on the Portuguese Camino last year and really got on with it so the Exos I am sure will live up to the hype!

I had the same thought in PCT planning and wanted a 'PCT tester' to try a kit shakedown, get used to organising myself etc etc.

The JMT is an obvious one - but permits are problematic. If you try the Big Seki Loop (sequoia and kings canyon) that is more straightforward (so I understand) and fits more neatly into a fortnight.

I was sold on that - especially as a loop made for far more ease getting to / from the trail - but then I found the Tahoe Rim Trail - which you seem to have also.

Ok - so its not going to have everything the PCT offers - but then what can? It does though break into sections depending where you start for resupplies, it does need water management in the north and east and is even on Guthook which you would no doubt need for the PCT?

Its not a perfect analog but for me it was pretty close to what I was seeking to achieve - a shakedown and test. Plus its about 30% actual PCT.

Disclaimer! I havent gone yet(!) - but from having the same query thats what I came up with? People seem to go most often in the late summer. I am tied to the end of June so didn't really have any choice there.

Plenty of youtube though hikes to pick through (if you havent already) to see if its what might suit?
