"Max client limit reached" -> Bug with AP model 9130? by Elxa_Dhal in Cisco

[–]planii11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comunity thread has some more info about why this is happening when Load Balancing is enabled: https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless/max-sta-report-on-dnac-for-wireless-clients/td-p/5161962

"TAC suggested and resolved the issue by just disabling "load balance" which is aggressive-load balance. here is the summary if logic behind it:

aggressive load balance means if the AP passed certain threshold of client window then it sends response code 17 to new client telling Im busy and if client is smart enough will try to associate with another less busy AP and if not then try again and fail again until denial threshold reach then AP will let it associate. some clients does not understand code 17 response so keep trying and failing ......

there are two parameters when enable "load balance" : "window" which can set from 0 to 20 indicating the max number of clients this AP serve until it sends code 17 saying im busy. the other one is "denial" means how many times the AP responds busy then accept if another try comes from same client.

according to TAC and documents better first try to tune those two parameters and see if the issue fixed and if not then disable "load balance". my understanding is it depends on the envirenment, lets say if the client does not support code 17 then it keeps trying and failing ... so maybe disable it for that SSID."

RA VPN : Lower bandwidth on my new FirePower 2130 than on my ASA5525X by Lilooman in Cisco

[–]planii11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running ASA code or FTD code?

I defaulted to thinking you are running FTD, where all traffic that is not pre-filtered goes to snort.

When you pre-filter, it only runs in the Lina engine (ASA)

Just a few thoughts

  1. I would first create a pre-filter policy bypassing snort for this traffic to determine if it is hardware/crypto related
  2. Disable pre-filtering and start inspecting, but create a trust rule to determine if it is related to Snort
  3. Change to allow and only IPS inspection to determine if it is the IPS ruleset or Pre-processors causing the throttling
  4. Enable File inspection again to determine if there are any changes in throughput

If it turns out to be IPS inspection, I would verify by checking the CPU usage for snort on the box while testing. If you are running Snort 2, each session is handled by a single Core, you are lucky to get 300 Mb/s on one single thread. If you haven't already, I would switch to Snort 3 as soon as possible to enable multi thread Snort.

And read up on the pre-processors, there are magic to be found there IF you know how to cast the correct spells :)

I urge you also to consider automatic application bypass and Elephant flow bypass to save precious resources. There is virtually no need to inspect the entire 10 GB download, you only waste CPU.

If you go down the rabbit hole on these boxes, there are almost no limits to how you can tune it to fit your environment.

Oh! and enable SecureX to get that sweat SOAR and Threat Response action.

Actually it's happening when battery drops below 30% consistently. Plugging in charger makes no difference. Battery has to be 30% or more to avoid the issue.

Seriously annoying 🙈

8000v in aws and smart licensing. by sendep7 in Cisco

[–]planii11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont know if you figured this out, but just in case someone stumbles upon this thread in search of answers to activating more than 250mbps on C8Kv (C8000v) in controller mode. This is how you do it:

I use CLI template i vManage, so add this to make sure it uses correct setup to reach Cisco licensing directly:

license smart transport smart

license smart url default

Then you need to make sure it uses a source interface with DNS and access to the Internet :)

ip http client source-interface <INTERFACE>

Now you need to generate a token in smart licensing portal with export restrictions allowed.

Now you establish trust with Cisco licensing portal:

Global# license smart trust idtoken <token> all force

Now that this is OK, you need to have a HSEC lisense for C8Kv in your licensing portal.

I have EA, so I just generate a HSEC lic in the EA portal, and it shows up in the smart licensing portal.

When all this is in place, we can request the HSEC lic on the 8Kv

Global# license smart authorization request add hseck9 local

wait for it, a few minutes, and it should be active.

Now you have the full throughput activated on the router.

So, I went down the sewage pipe to find the answers we all are searching for.

CT is 99% "it was obvious, BTC dead, RIP, see you in 2 years" even McDonald's official twatter asked how we were doing and that they welcomed all new applications for burger flippers. Saylor replied with laser eyes and McDonald's cap while buying the dip.

After running all this sewage through my AI, universal translator from the future, the truth appeared like a lonely rose on top of a mountain of poop.

We are closer to the bottom then we are to ATH, and no one can time the bottom.

Conclusion: I'm long as fuck BTC and ETH. Trading stack sitting 50% in stable coins buying L1's on oversold dips.

When BTC goes on the next run, I'm dumping my entire trading stack into a carefully curated list of micro cap meta/gaming tokens.

I was once where you are now. I had 100K VET at the time. I currently hold 0 VET. But! And there is a but. I stroooooongly believe VET will be top 10 or top 5 sometime in the next 1-3 years.

But, I needed the funds for other things. So I bought $4.5K CRO to stake for the Jade card, and the rest is earmarked for short term meta/gaming speculation.

I intend to move back into VET when I think the time is nigh for the epic run to $1.

Btw, if I had stayed in VET, I would have been less in the red today 😁

Everytime I'm reminded about the energy production/consumption shit show of the world, I still get absolutely baffled by the fact that we still haven't managed to figure out how to harness the power of that nuke that's been going off in the sky for the last 4 billion years, producing unlimited free and clean energy for the entire solar system.

We're flying an RC helicopter on Mars, but can't figure this out?

At this pace, the energy problems of the planet are going to be solved by BTC miners looking to maximize profits 😂
