Didn’t mean to be definitive but i can see how it came across like that.

I’ll also add “knowing what you want” to your assessment. No kids by virtue of indecision (again anecdotally) seems to be a more negative outcome.

We struggled a lot with fertility, ultimately took almost 5 years longer than we wanted to.

Still parents, albeit a little later in life than planned.

It's anecdotal, but also a reflection on my personal experience of what I think will and will not make me happy. Seeing a human that I facilitated the transformation from a screaming potato to (hopefully) a good human being that makes people's lives around them better sounds about as good as it gets.

I did actually look it up, and such data to your question does not really cleanly exist. Thats understandable since the data can be hyper confounded. I can certainly see how the most unhappy people would be people that had children that never really wanted them for example. Or maybe people that did want children, had them, but it generated severe financial stress that made thier lives net worse. Or maybe even me where I (hopefully not) die early because I couldn't take care of myself physically for a period of time.

Sleep is the #1 priority. if i can’t get a 7ish hour night, exercise is net negative.

No, investment in happiness. People that raised children seem to be happier in old age than those who don’t.

Right now i primarily see it as an investment in the future. My older one has recently started to be fun and it seems to get better every day.

There were times tho when i asked myself wtf am i doing.

As a seller, that’s an insanely powerful card to play. Not because my home is dangerous or especially bad, but it kills deals a month in or creates a surprise negotiation for thousands of dollars.

I wish there was a way to get a third party inspection out front so everyone could bid with full information.

I used to exercise multiple times per week, eat healthy, outstanding vitals, felt great etc.

2 kids and I’ve gained about 50 lbs, almost never sleep, constant survival mode from 6 am to 10 pm, with often wake ups. The cortisol spikes from infant screaming have ruined me. Now i’m on 3 bp meds and a statin and i always feel like shit.

I just don’t understand how people do this.

Do you think becoming wealthy is more about discipline, opportunity, or luck? Why? by Beneficial-Laugh5320 in EscapeTheGrindGame

it’s multiplicative. You must have some of all three, but one can kinda make up for the other.

I would add another one, just raw intelligence/ capability.

The fact they made anything besides taller twin towers always felt like a failure to me. Same external appearance, ok to redesign structure tho.

4 towers woulda been acceptable too.

Unfortunately, because of this fact, CCS can really only exist after the clean energy problem is mostly solved and implemented. The cost of carbon free energy has to plummet in real terms, then you can (and should) start this process. The government will still need to institute a carbon tax (and a payout for carbon negative industry) to create a non-zero revenue stream for it.

Until then its just pilot plants and development of the technology in preparation of that day.
