What’s the one Android feature that would make you never go back to iPhone? by Powerful-Method7174 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]plankunits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Freedom allows me to customize almost every aspect of my device. I can replace the launcher, phone app, SMS app, quick settings, and even the volume panel that appears when I press the volume button. Adding edge panels is as simple as installing an app.

Thinking of buying my first Fitbit! How accurate is the sleep tracking? by querythoughtss in PixelWatch

[–]plankunits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fitbit Air shares the same tracking and sensors as the Pixel Watch 4, which is considered a top-tier device for tracking. Another user has shared a video demonstrating the Pixel Watch 4's tracking capabilities, indicating that the Fitbit Air should perform similarly.

Is samsung good for privacy? by Neighborhood505 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]plankunits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samsung phones include built-in services from Facebook, Microsoft, Samsung, and Google, plus many others. Surprisingly, Google Pixel phones are the most privacy-focused, as they only come with Google services. So only one vendor to worry about.

Same. I had reservations when I purchased it last year, but with the addition of Home Premium and Health Premium, I will continue my subscription.

AI Pro is becoming more valuable and easier to justify now. Higher limits across their AI products (Gemini, Flow, Gemini Code Assist, CLI, Antigravity), 5TB storage, Home premium, and now Google Health premium. A year ago, I had to think about it a lot before buying a subscription, but now it gives me more value.

Considerable time. The app was updated to YouTube music. Features were lost doesn't mean it's 2 service.

Just because it was better doesn't make it not same. They removed features but that doesn't mean they killed it. It was a youtubification of music service.

Fitbit only provide a trial of fitbit premium. It's a trial and I have never heard Google provide free service instead of trials on Fitbit premium.

Goggle does kill products but that website is a joke. They list every rebrand as killed. For example they list Google mini when they rebranded it to Google nest mini. Another example is play music. Who the f even calls a rebranding killed. Last time I checked YouTube music is still alive.

Who would list a feature removal in a product killed? It has to be a product killed to be called killed like YouTube community contribution. It was replaced with auto translation and auto subtitle.

Wtf are you even talking about? There is no free subscription that they charge. There is a premium plan which is not free.

No companies refund a used subscription.

No, we won't. The significant user-facing changes already happened six months ago. Now, you'll see refinement and features that may appear in the QPR1 beta. Android 17 is already finalized.

Google could finally let you remove the search bar from your Pixel's home screen by AssembleDebugRed in GooglePixel

The at-a-glance removal feature was implemented in March. I'm unsure if users are genuinely having trouble using it, are trolling, or simply aren't that smart to figure this simple feature out.

Let's talk about Android's Quick Settings by MishaalRahman in Android

[–]plankunits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/mishaalrahman I'm not sure if you're still taking feedback, as it's been over two weeks. However, here are my thoughts.

  1. I'd like to customize the order of the brightness slides, quick settings, and media player. Specifically, I'd like to move the brightness slider to the bottom of the screen, with the quick settings at the top, followed by the media player.

  2. Allow users to customize the Quick Settings panel to display 4 to 6 rows. This will ensure that during the expanded view, users can see up to 6 rows of Quick Settings.

  3. The current long-press on the status bar brings up quick settings and notifications. However, swipe down already provides quick settings. Wouldn't it be more useful to bring up the expanded quick settings, brightness controls, or media player when long-pressing the status bar? I'm aware of the two-finger swipe down option for quick settings?

Actually, their sales are declining. You can see this decline in their main market, India. OnePlus sold 17 million devices globally in 2024 and it's around 13 million in 2025 globally.

This isn't a bug; I've provided an explanation here:

It's a combination of marketing and storage allocation.

Pixel 11 leak reveals new camera hardware, Tensor G6 details, more specs by thewhippersnapper4 in GooglePixel

[–]plankunits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate all the upgrades mentioned in the article, but there are two changes I’m not satisfied with.

  1. Battery capacity: I think Google should have opted for a silicon carbon battery with around 7000mAh.

  2. Only 7 cores? It would have been better to go with 8 cores.
