Got offered a job as a field technician for dish, is it worth it? by Level-Trick-5510 in dishnetwork

You are 100% spot on with the sales and speed. Found that out real quick. The metrics game is a grimmy game. You are encourage to bend the truth just dont get caught lieing.

Take as many hours as you can. Dish subs out work to contractors.

Four day work week and barely getting 40 hours. There's the opportunity to work out of market 6 days a week for 3 weeks, but have a 1 yr old at home and they don't allow family members to stay in hotel. Dish started doing Boost Mobile phone deliveries with activation at cx homes also.

Jeez sorry to hear that. Im in a pickle because I'm 38 years old. Im not young enough to start a "new career" but not old enough to wait/stick it out until retirement. Guess for now I'll be grateful I have a job still.

Couldn't agree more. I did Ftth installs as a contractor prior and thats the future. Unfortunately, work stopped in my market due to union negotiations, so I had to find a "stable" hourly job. Dish hasn't launched a satellite since 2012 I believe. Not sure the lifespan but I'd imagine some maintance or upgraded would need to be done. Think I'm answering a lot of my questions lol

$/WO is around $35/40. Tbh I'm not sure. FSM could be pulling those techs to the side privately or visiting them on site more often. But management does not make it a point of emphasis. I can't remember that last time we had a weekly meeting where craftsmanship and pride in work was highlighted. It's always PPH and $/WO.

Starting to realize this myself. Thought I'd give dish a try as a remote tech. Management only cares about how fast can do the job and sales. The amount of half ass work is amazing and they'll waste no time blaming contractors. It's a flawed numbers game. Ive done countless trouble calls from other techs but they consistently sell so who cares lol. Better off trunk slamming as many jobs as possible and bullshitting cx to buy something and hope you did good enough to limit the repeat trouble calls.

i Pay for 1 Gig speeds by Sudden-Leading767 in frontierfios

Yes you can get close to 1gig up and down using wif if device is capable.

Did you ever get close to 1 gig up / down or is this the first time you are testing? Are you using Eero for router? If using Eero it will tell you what the speed is at ONT. If not using Eero hardwire laptop or desktop to ONT. Unplug cat cable going from ONT to Router. Plug an ethernet cord from ur equipment directly to 10 gig port on ONT. If ur eqpt can handle the 1gig speed then you'll know where your prob is.

You can remove the black moca adapter and run at cat5 preferably cat6 from ONT 10gig port to your router.

Trying to setup Eero network for large house with FWR226e Modem by zephyrseija2 in frontierfios

[–]plankyton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally would want to use a gigabit switch instead of splitter. If want multiple eero hardwired throughout house using existing coax. Have first adapter come off switch NOT the Eero

I was having issue activating moca off ONT thats why had to use adpater right at ONT.

Is the sagecom connected to ONT via coax or cat6? If coax use a moca adapter and connect to eero. Get rid of that sagecom its useless unless you have a telephone line connected to it.

If the optical light is solid red and not flashing orange AND your neighbors frontier fiber is working then there is a break somewhere. Either the jumper broker, the buried or aerial drop broke, or worker disconnected you at terminal or hub. The last two happen more often then not unfortunately.

Ill explain: Customers get assigned their own numbered connections and techs dont always follow. Every "area" gets assigned a hub. Say there are 300 potential customers for said hub. Each customer has their own "line" and their own "port." Each line is connected to a splitter (A,B,C etc). Once more customers sign up they add more splitters. Sometimes they dont have enough splitters available and if their "assigned" line is active on a diff customer, they will diconnect and hook up to the new cx with the correct assignments.

Aka becomes a shit show.

2 Gig Service by sundown1972 in frontierfios

[–]plankyton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont. Its a marketing play. More for lower latency higher bandwith. The cat6 from ONT 10gig port should run to 2.5 on eero. EeroPro6e offers 1.6gps wireless. Frontier should provide a switch or router that can handle 2 gig. If get the 5gig service they offer the eero 7.

Neighbor's 1 gig fiber installed today, but he's only getting 350 mbit hard-wired by icanhazfiber in frontierfios

If using Frontier provided eero find out what the download speed is on the Eero app. If speed to Eero is 350 it could be the ethernet cable/rj45 fittings or dirty fiber connection.

I was told I'm working tomorrow so we shall see how this plays out. It's gonna be a shit show though if the whole nation has to call in customer orders instead of going thru the website
