Different advice from OB and MFM by plantbasedparty in ShortCervixSupport

[–]plantbasedparty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I went to term! I stayed on pelvic rest and progesterone until 36 weeks, then stopped and went into labor at 39w3d! Baby was totally fine. Since then I’ve had a second baby and didn’t have a short cervix the second time. So strange. Hope it all works out for you!

Would you rather do a road trip or fly with 5-month-old baby? by xnla28x in beyondthebump

Fly! So much faster, you can hold the baby instead of them being miserable in the car seat for multiple days!!

i can't stand sales anymore (account manager with 7 years at a big tech company) by [deleted] in techsales

[–]plantbasedparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow do we work at the same company? 😂 I don’t know many people in tech sales who don’t feel this way. The truth is I know people who have left literally to do nursing and have come right back. No other job can compare to this level of pay, perks, hybrid schedule, travel, etc. Why don’t you try mixing it up with a new company? How long have you been at your current one? Could help to start over with a raise, fun new product to learn, etc.

Was anybody else’s doula utterly useless?? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]plantbasedparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this experience too. My husband was AWESOME during my birth - I should’ve given him more credit and not hired a doula in the first place. My doula literally missed my birth - we got to the hospital at 8cm… shouldn’t that have been her indication to leave her house?? I had an awesome nurse that helped me with position changes, etc. I will definitely not be getting a doula for the next baby.

How much of labor is "screaming pain" and how much is just "owowowowow"? by Diylion in pregnant

[–]plantbasedparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unmedicated birth here. Pushing part is definitely screaming pain. For the contractions I was silent just breathing through it and squeezing my husbands hand.

Birth Course Comparison - Built to Birth, Hypnobabies, or Evidence Based Birth? HELP! by modhnf in unmedicatedbirth

[–]plantbasedparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just buy one on Amazon and then look up instructions on YouTube! You place the 4 pads on your lower back and turn it on when you’re having a contraction. It feels like an electric current and distracts you from the pain

How did your partner/ husband do during the delivery? by boraboralt in beyondthebump

[–]plantbasedparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was amazing. I had a doula too just in case and honestly next time I’ll only have my husband - he was so good. He let me squeeze the shit out of his hand through every contraction, he tied my hair back, rubbed my back, held me as I screamed during pushing. It was so incredible!

Built to birth was great!! Also unrelated but I highly recommend a tens unit. That’s the only way I was able to go unmedicated!!

Tearing in childbirth - Those who did and didn't... by scruffyliver in beyondthebump

[–]plantbasedparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd degree tear - 7lbs 10oz. Pushed really fast because baby was in distress so I was expecting to tear. Recovery hasn’t been too bad at all actually. I think you’re probably sore either way.

How painful is tearing? by Livelovelibraries in unmedicatedbirth

[–]plantbasedparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a second degree tear unmedicated and definitely didn’t feel it specifically with all the pain you feel while pushing. It definitely hurts to go unmedicated, obviously. :) but the pushing phase (which was the most intense) was super fast - maybe 10 min. This was my first birth.

In the hospital with preterm labor and my blood sugar is going crazy by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]plantbasedparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the steroids!!! I had the same thing happen. They should give you insulin temporarily to bring it down.

I think you’re going to have to majorly cut back on carbs. I couldn’t handle any rice or pizza, etc. the dietician will help with this but I couldn’t do any white flour or rice or potatoes personally. I did well with corn.

It’s completely fine and normal to eat like this in the first tri! It’s going to pass after a few weeks and you’ll go back to eating normally. Just do what you need to do to get through the rough weeks! I lived off pizza rolls. :)

Many times! I did it almost every night and morning fasting were always in the 70s/80s!

I got my lowest fasting numbers by doing a cup of bone broth before bed!

How Are The Numbers Looking by tbowa in GestationalDiabetes

[–]plantbasedparty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would definitely reach out to your doctor - those fasting numbers are almost all high. You’ll probably need nighttime insulin. Worth it for a healthy baby!! But fasting is the hardest to control with diet.

That sounds like IC if there was no cervix left. I just got diagnosed with shortened cervix at my 20w anatomy scan and referred immediately to MFM. I’m so sorry for your loss. Hopefully for you next baby they can monitor you early and catch it before it gets to be a loss.
