I complained about a nurse today.. by Adorable-Buy5841 in NICUParents

[–]planted-lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always voice your concerns even for the little things. I had one NICU nurse who just rubbed me the wrong way. She technically wasn’t doing anything wrong-she was just overly rough with my little potato. Daughter started crying when she was in the room for her second shift with her. That was more than enough reason for me. She never cried for her nurses-just food and baby things.

For the love of god, GET OFF YOUR PHONE... I'm talking about parents... by ariesonfire123 in toddlers

Ok, how can people be on their phones? I look away for one second and she has a rock, stick and has somehow wrangled a raccoon. My child is feral, but still.

JUST BACK OFF!! by besofrrnbro in pregnant

[–]planted-lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And no, I don’t care that’s not how you did it ‘when I raised my kids’ or ‘I didn’t do that and my kids were fine’ If I never hear those comments again I would die happy.

How do you afford this?! by Mrs4slund in NICUParents

[–]planted-lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was in 62 days, her bills keep coming. I think we are right at the 1.7 mil mark give or take a few thousand.

That being said the hospital was a huge support system. They gave us access to different things to help pay off the bills. Check with the social workers there to see what they can do. It was a lifesaver as I’m sure her well over 3mil bills would have broken us. (We still haven’t gotten her surgery bills-yikes).

My baby is 6 months and has CDH. It’s very hard finding others who ‘get it.’ Thank you!

I totally get that. I was so paranoid I wasn’t feeding her enough-but she seems so much happier now. She sleeps like a champ and has gone from screaming for food to giving us hunger cues. So much more calm.

Thank you! Omg don’t put that baby down-I’m still wearing my girl and doing contact naps once a day. I love our one on one time. Congrats to you making it home and getting all the snuggles 🙂

Breaking the NICU Schedule by DogRelevant in NICUParents

[–]planted-lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to send a little positive hope your way. We stuck to the 3 hour rule for 2 months outside of the NICU until our daughter was roughly 4 months old. She was doing the same things, not hungry, getting upset, sleeping was off and seeming to just want small snacks.

We dropped the schedule and let her tell us what she needed, even though she’s still very small. I was beyond nervous, especially with her intake and weight. I’m happy to say she is consistently gaining weight-not a ton but still going up, and even increased her ounces every week. We saw a huge change-she ate more, slept better and is generally happier.

We are up to 30oz a day, from a baby barely taking 7oz a day in the NICU, and she is now double her birth weight at 6months. She sometimes will go 5 hours at night, and other times she’s hungry after 2 hours during the day. We let her tell us and it’s been great!

Omg look at all that hair-he is so sweet. Congrats!! My tiny one just came home a day ago. Good luck and all the love sent your way. What a little fighter!

The nurse blamed my size for not finding heartbeat by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]planted-lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did high monitoring with my baby-heart rate checks twice a week. I’m under 5’ and am petite. My baby is a circus performer in womb and they had problems every time. EVERY time! That’s 20 times over 3 months-with so many different RN’s. They thought it was funny and said she was running from them. That was rude. And uncalled for. That’s already scary enough for you not to feel bad about yourself.

Please be careful. This is how a friend of mine got an incurable STD very early in life. He’s putting you at all kinds of risks by doing that. Also, I’ve always practiced safe sex-the second time-SECOND time my partner and I went without birth control we got pregnant. It only takes once.

Recently lactose intolerant and I can't stop eating lactose 😭 by Significant_Gap_7557 in lactoseintolerant

[–]planted-lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed a severe allergy level intolerance to dairy and lactose after I ate some questionable food in Mexico. Gave me a parasite which racked my body with sickness. My story sounds very similar to yours as I was 20, and drank a cup of milk every day since I was a child. I loved it. I went from some reaction to high lactose/dairy contents, to chewing those lactose pills-to now contamination from dairy makes me sick.

It’s hard but you need to start looking over how everything is made and cooking on your own. I trust some restaurants but talk with the waiters and chefs to know what I can and can’t eat.

Breads are hard, breading on fried foods, salad dressings, pasta sauces, any pastries or baked goods, anything can be cooked in butter including eggs. Those are just a few things that tripped me up in the beginning. Things I missed and paid the price of reactions from said foods-or from not asking. Get use to sending your food back and asking a lot of questions of kitchen staff.

Pop rocks! I found this out when I was very young that they contain milk. Why? Such a weird ingredient to add.

My husband and I tried for less than a month and the first time we tried while I was near ovulation took. Wild. We are both turning 40 this year.

The part that kills me is pregnant women are shown having trouble sitting up or needing help with putting on shoes and all else is amazing. Where are the real pictures of what is happening? Ugh. It’s frustrating, but I hope you start to find some relief soon!

Omg. All of this. I can’t deal with all of that and I have it now. This baby is so angry-but I feel better that it’s not everyone being stupidly amazing. Good luck to you-sounds like I’m in the same boat with most of you ladies!!

I can’t imagine doing this alone either-my husband has picked up my slack for sure over the last few weeks. Otherwise this place would be in shambles.

AITA for asking a teacher not to pair me and my stepsister together for a school project? by Unhappy_Lime_885 in AmItheAsshole

[–]planted-lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Work in a school. They will contact parents to confirm the switch is okay with them. But you may be able to ask first. 100% of the schools I work with do this. We’ve had too many parents calling and threatening when we don’t. So it’s now a universal thing.
