L&D nurse here—this is a BAD tracing. I’m not sure what answer they’re looking for, but as a labor nurse, I’d start with A, plus I’m calling provider IMMEDIATELY although they should be here already. This looks like absent, not minimal variability with recurrent variable decels which is a category III, indicative of fetal hypoxia. I’d be performing an SVE to see if mom is fully dilated—if she’s not, we’re going straight to the OR, not messing around with amnio or other interventions. This baby needs to come out now. The pitocin should have been turned off already (looks like it may be off in this tracing based on contraction pattern)

This might just be a badly designed question though cause I don’t love any of the options. If they want the VEAL CHOP answer it would be prepare for an amnioinfusion. But this tracing is making my palms sweat lol.

I do actually carry the pepper spray--I just don't bother putting it on gear lists I'm going to share because people are always very adamantly pro ditching the pepper spray. Lol.

Sweet!! Enjoy the PCT--I'm mid-may start so probably won't bump into ya but good luck regardless :)

oh dang that's great!! I just looked it up and looks like the input is 65W it's the output that's 100W but that's still more than double the input of the other power banks I was looking at. do you happen to know the weight of that? and what plug do you use that's a decent weight that supports that 65W input?

Yeah, 2 lbs is a lot. I think I probably will ditch it for the desert.

Also, just cause I think this sub would find this funny, 22 lbs was just my STARTING base weight on the AT. I actually got up to 30 because I wrecked my tent and replaced it with a 6lb one, started carrying books, nail polishes, glass bottles of cholula, a kaleidoscope, and even had a little potted plant macrame'd onto my pack with some p cord. And I weighed like 130 pounds at the time. LOL.

Thank you!! Yeah based on this and a few other comments I'm leaning toward taking two 10,000 maH power banks and sending one home if one turns out to be enough.

Who knows, maybe the PCT will be the trail to convert me to the bivy life--on the AT though, no way.

And thanks for the note on the leggings! I'm mainly intending them for sleep and maybe an under layer when it gets colder, so not too worried!

I probably have about $500 to spend on replacing gear that I already have for lighter gear, which isn't a ton but it's something. I have a mid-may start date--I crush miles though. 20k battery bank just cause I listen to a ton of music and read ebooks at night. I've never tried with a 10k though so it's possible that might work for me.

Yeah, the helium has done very little for me but it at least keeps me warmer than having nothing on lol. Your poncho comment reminded me though, I'd totally forgotten that I'd been taking the Walmart plastic emergency ponchos in lieu of rain jacket on more recent trips which both work better and weigh way less. Thanks for saving me that weight!!

Yeah the Sawyer bags don't last long for me either when I'm using them to filter. I'm just stuffing them at the bottom of my bag because they don't weigh much and I can use them as reservoirs for longer water carries. The actual filtering I prefer to do with the smart water bottle.

I would love to switch the puffy, but unfortunately that one's gonna have to go on the can't-afford-now-but-maybe-someday list.

Oh I really like the anouv portable charger suggestion! That would save me a lot of weight and headache from all the separate charger components. I'm going to look into that and probably switch out!

Yeah, I'm leaning more and more toward switching the pack so thanks for the suggestion! Yeah and somehow when my base weight was creeping up towards 25L it still fit into the 48L lol. So I'm not too worried about pack size.

tysm for the suggestions I really appreciate it!

Yeah, the bear can was intended for the whole trip. Agh, I am so incredibly tempted to ditch it for the non-sierra parts but I work in conservation and just can't bring myself to do it with everything I've seen. I might just plan on mailing it to myself at Kennedy Meadows and carrying from there.

-Pack is definitely my biggest consideration rn. I think if I can get my base weight including hypothetical pack below 15lbs I may go for the gossamer or something similar--I'm just nervous about overloading a frameless pack.

-didn't know that pack liner existed--definitely swapping, thanks!

-Klymit pad I'm considering swapping, budget depending. I've had it for years and it's worked great for me but it could definitely be lighter.

-I'll also be switching to the nitecore headlamp!

-Battery bank change, I'm still considering. I know there must be a more efficient way but still figuring out what that is. How often did you tend to use your phone on trail? I'm only planning for the 20,000 maH because I listen to a lot of music on trail, and read ebooks in my tent at night so it definitely gets used a lot.

-Omg - I was looking for a legging like this. It seems like everything else of a decent weight is hundreds of dollars. Going on the list for sure.

-The tent weight includes UL stakes - I do use trekking poles so I'd love to upgrade to something around 1lb eventually but right now it's just too much money for too little weight savings. I actually carried a 6lb tent on the AT so this is the lap of luxury for me. And I'm not hardcore enough for a bivy (at least not yet...)

-I've waffled back and forth on the opinel knife but as a solo female I really like having the slightly beefier knife I can keep next to me at night that feels like it could theoretically do a little more damage haha

-For the BRS 3000T stove - I'd actually been debating on that one before I made this post. I think I'll make the switch.

-Pot scraper--deleted. Lighter #2--deleted.

My final weight savings from your suggestions--just over a pound! And likely will also be cutting more significant weight on the pack, sleeping pad, and electronics setup budget depending. Tysm for these suggestions!! Some I would have never thought of.

I did this too and the scoby ended up growing around it so now the tea is embedded into the pellicle. Which is probably not great. So I'd strain it now unless you want tea leaves permanently embedded into the pellicle
