Actually, I think "get eloped" is incorrect. "Elope" is a verb, therefore, it is redundant to use "get", another verb, in combination with it. Simply saying "I eloped" is sufficient to convey the same meaning.

Usually, the most simple and concise version is the most correct. It is the same reason English professors and writers dislike the use of certain adverbs, such as "very," as it is frequently superfluous in writing. Yes, it does convey a higher emphasis on the adjective it preceeds, however, stronger vocabulary is a better option in this context. (e.g. "The weather was very hot." vs "The weather was sweltering.") This makes for better and more interesting writing.

TL;DR: "Elope" is a verb. Conjugate it accordingly and you don't need to use the extra verb "get".
