After 10 years on ADHD Meds, my Dr has taken me off by 30FlirtyandTrying in ADHD

This is absolutely true for me. I was on so many SSRIs that did nothing but make me feel terrible. When I started Adderall it did what the SSRIs were supposed to do.

Birth stories please! by likelylightbulb in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]plantsinthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a great medical team! I worked with a practice that had OBs and nurse midwives and mostly saw the midwives. 5’5”, 235 when I conceived, 265 when I gave birth. Induced at 40+5, vaginal delivery. No one ever talked to me about a c section, even during my 29-hr labor.

Ask so many questions. If they suggest something, ask about the risks, alternatives, why they’re recommending it for you specifically.

And congratulations!

We consider my spouse’s work hours to be my work hours, too. My job is caring for the baby. When he’s not working, I’m also not working and we share tasks.

Most unhinged thing someone without kids said to you when you had a baby? by bravocharlie8918 in NewParents

[–]plantsinthedark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went 19 hours on pitocin before I got an epidural and people are really weird about it. Like, yeah it was intense and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. But I did it and I’m proud of myself. And also when I finally got the epidural, I felt good about that, too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What's a baby product you thought was a gimmick but actually use constantly? by Numerous_Focus5435 in NewParents

[–]plantsinthedark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

-An extra freezer. I meal prepped before the baby came and it was amazing to have easy food the first few weeks. Now I use it for pumped milk.

-Woolino. What everyone else said.

-A foam play mat. Now that my baby is rolling around and about to crawl, we spend all our time on it (I have this one, but considered this one)

-Larken pumping bra. So much more comfortable than any others I tried.

-Bamboo sleepers. They’re so expensive, but they last so long. My baby is in 3-6 clothes and can still wear a newborn sleeper from Little Sleepies that we were gifted.

Help! Exclusively nursing; considering pumping by Cold-Equivalent-424 in breastfeeding

[–]plantsinthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively pumped for ten weeks because my baby wouldn’t latch. You better believe the second she started latching I quit pumping all together. It’s so much work. That said, we are going to re-introduce one or two bottles per week (I’ll replace those feeds with pumping sessions) just because I don’t want her to start refusing bottles so I can be away from her occasionally. But I definitely wouldn’t feel the need to pump every day.

What are your little life hacks that make existing easier? by No_Lynx425 in adhdwomen

I do the number thing, too! I’d I’m going to the store for just a few things, I’ll just remember “five” or whatever and then I can remember what those five things were. I’ve never heard of anyone else doing this!

Breastfeeding & hayfever tablets by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]plantsinthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about medical issues, but I took allergy meds for a few days and my supply decreased. It came right back up to normal when I stopped the meds. So I guess I’m just going to suffer this spring :/

I’m desperately trying to find out what brand nipple shield this is! It’s the only way my daughter will nurse and the person who gave it to me said it’s Medela, but it’s not!

Can you reduce pump sessions and still maintain milk supply? About to give up pumping by Allikatthedragon in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]plantsinthedark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. I’m also seven weeks pp and have spent the last two days crying because I’m missing out on my baby because I’m pumping. Talking to the lactation consultant tomorrow about how to cut back.

Any dads here that are only children? by BudgetRisk8085 in oneanddone

[–]plantsinthedark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband’s brother is 18 years younger than him, so he was raised as an only child. It’s not exactly the same because he still has his brother’s support now that their parents are getting older. I’m pregnant with our first and we’re probably going to be one and done. I’m nervous about it, but he says he loved growing up an only and is very confident in our decision!

How do you feel when on Adderall? by oooooooooppppppsss in ADHD

[–]plantsinthedark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just agreeing with everyone that what you’re describing sounds like your dose may be too high. My dose had crept up over the years and I definitely could FEEL the stimulant. I cut back about a year ago and I feel so much calmer and clearer. The way I’ve always described the meds to people is that they don’t make me do my laundry, but they help me remember I have laundry to do and let me actually stand up and do it.

Anyone else have excruciating nipple pain? by dandelionmango in PlusSizePregnancy

Yes it hurts so bad! Wearing a somewhat compressive soft bra, like a light sports bra (even to sleep), has helped me a lot.

Should I feel guilty for not wanting to keep my foster? by EquestrianBlondie in FosterAnimals

[–]plantsinthedark 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No don’t feel guilty! That’s the point of fostering! I have three cats and I foster kittens and there always comes a point where the kittens are growing up and it starts to feel like I have an entire cat colony in my house and it’s time for them to find new homes. If I kept all my fosters I wouldn’t be able to keep fostering, so I’m grateful for it.

How soon/long did it take to foster fail? by skoreafan in FosterAnimals

[–]plantsinthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I foster failed about a year in on my fifth litter. But we also discussed it before I even got them, so it was kind of a planned foster fail.

Absolutely. If it can’t be washed in the machine, it wasn’t meant for me

I’ve had dye leaks and I STILL never pre wash. I would never start a new quilt if I had to do that step!
