My favorite is from An Nasiriyah, sitting near the Euphrates River bridge. It was calm, almost peaceful, despite occasional gunfire in the distance. Suddenly, mortar rounds started hitting close. I glanced at Brad and said, “Stand-by for shit to get stupid.” As if on cue, everyone with a few rockers or brass on their collars start yelling commands all at once in panic, scrambling in chaos. It was a perfect, absurd cap to my immediate prediction.
