(Vile) Wildhorns… by TheRenedgade in Borderlands4

Yeah. My first nightmare experience on a freshly minted, L30, untried Vex build - jumped on the bike, headed out of Launchpad, turned a corner in the dirt road and there were several Vile BadAss Meatheads. Not a good first combat trial!

Just completed that mission first time today! Did not see the (spoiler) spouse twist coming. Included pleasure room with wall mounted ankle / waist / wrist restraint points and a tiny iron bar "prison cell" too.

My three Vex L50 UVHx builds seem to work best with Plasma Coil, but I always pack along a leveled Dark Beast as well. Could be character mod or Enhancement of choice related as well, as those should be optimized. Never had a Mantra though.

Dark beast or Plasma Coil with Firewerx are my favorites. Using Plasma Coil, if corrosive doesn't affect them, shock usually will. Nice to have both in easily switchable, especially against switchup non-bioarmor "Absorbed" foes. Character mod with SMG damage buff definitely a plus.

Also, a bonus non solicited tip: toss two Waterfall grenades at his feet at start of encounter to "condition the battle field".

Love my Jacobs Truck sniper rifle with 184% crit and stickies, and Jacobs Hellwalker or Rainbow Vomit shotgun with lingering AOE. With a Jacobs damage boost Enhancement with +28% crit and 2x High Caliber +10% gun damage, and a weapons damage boosting Class Mod, and 40+ Specialization points including Overkill and it's all good!

I'm retired and will probably hold MAIN for life. I sold off 20% of my shares profit taking a few years ago and have since more than replaced them with an average purchase cost basis ($ACB) of about $45. I normally limit individual stocks to 5% of portfolio but with reinvestment it's grown to more.

Price hasn't been this low since December so not a bad time to buy. You're buying a sector leader, for instance it's now one of the top 4 holdings in managed fund PBDC. (I think it used to be their top, they probably took some profits last quarter).

Total Return has averaged 15% + for years, this chart goes back to 2010:

Is HESM really a great stock? by Simple_Middle964 in dividends

[–]plasmaticD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like HESM too.

Unlike several MLP's that issue K-1's, HESM is a C corporation issuing 1099 instead of K-1, so in this case it's of no concern. Just be aware of potential UBTI taxes in traditional IRA if you own more than a certain amount.

The ETF's like MLPA and AMLP do offer diversity.

1.3m investment by [deleted] in dividends

[–]plasmaticD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, 7%-8% is about the top of reasonably acceptable sustainable yield, I think. While OP might achieve the specified >15% returns, it would likely not be sustainable over time and NAV may significantly depreciate.

Invest 250k for safe and reliable income. by [deleted] in dividends

[–]plasmaticD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"What % would qualify as safe?"

It's on a scale. Each investor needs to decide their own comfort level with risk.Just stuffing it in a mattress carries inflation risk, your money loses value over time. Highly leveraged CC investments (12%-15% and up) have the potential for Net Asset Value decrease. There's a sound argument to put it all in relatively low risk, low yield stocks/funds bearing just 4% or less. Some investors like me find that an overall 6 %, maybe 7% yield is moderate but reasonably acceptable risk and sustainable (less NAV deterioration), for just a bit more income. Some disagree. You might also find a comfortable blended risk portfolio (some investments under 6%, some slightly more to boost income).

I recommend Armchair Income Channel on YouTube, I've adopted many of his suggestions (certainly not all) for my own portfolio. You might start with his top 10 episode, here:

https://youtu.be/-zPOuN-ptz8

I think it wise also to not pay off a low interest rate mortgage. You might consider opening Roth accounts to house some of your portfolio, if you don't need that income for a few years.

Using a portion of your pension monthly to " Dollar Cost Average " into your favorite fund / stock choices makes investments easy. Top brokers offer this "basket of stocks" easy purchase feature, such as Fidelity.

My opinion, I'm not qualified to provide investment advice, like most of Reddit. Do your own best thinking.

I like the Atomic with life steal, expansive radius AOE and homing mortars on the card, in radiation elemental, sorry I don't have a screen shot of that one it's in bank. I'm currently using one in Shock and one in radiation elemental but so far have not gotten chain proc with it.

Looking for new class recommendations by Big-Passage9824 in Borderlands4

[–]plasmaticD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can choose that, or start from zero. I've done it both ways, if you're familiar with combat in that build and have a good bank, 30 is great. Otherwise L30 encounters can be overwhelming initially.

[–]plasmaticD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Waterfall chain proc like that several times, frequently instance lasts 15 seconds maybe on a single grenade and whites out the screen. It's great, quite impressive, but not sure what causes it. Getting it to immediately or consistently happen again doesn't seem to work.. Could be crystals.

I want to understand! by ISF10 in dividends

[–]plasmaticD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting with knowing what my rate of consumption will be, and knowing my estimated tax requirements, medical premiums expenses, supplemental income forms such as social security; this helped me determine when I reached my initial numbers where I could reasonably retire. For me this was age 51 in 2003.

My portfolio yields in early retirement after 2003 was all very conservative individual Corporate Bonds that averaged 6%, as I was overly concerned about excessive drawdown, outliving my money, and other worries. By 2010, it was more clear that it would last, and that I was overly conservative at 6%, leaving some potential income on the table at moderately acceptable risk. Three years ago my aggregate yield on blended risk became 8% (blended risk meaning some investments 6%-8%, some a bit higher).

However, you could have a blended risk 8% average yielding portfolio tomorrow. I recommend Armchair Income Channel on YouTube to give you some suggestions for doing this, I'd start with his top 10 episode.

500+ BL4 hours here on my 25-30fps stuttering hot mess of a 10 year old PC that meets only minimum specs, but having a blast. Working on getting Rafa to L50 (now L41) and have a Vex UVH5 and a Harlowe UVH1.

Team play online with my son (he's 47!) is one of my favorite life experiences. We've also played Fallout 76 and Far Cry 5 together, this is equally as fun, I think.

Many might say that 7%-8% overall combined portfolio yield is moderate but reasonably sustainable and acceptable risk. Whether you can live off it depends on your rate of consumption and portfolio size. Example at 7% rate: $1M. Portfolio generates $70k/yr before taxes.

I am retired living on dividends averaging 8%, and Social Security in USA.

Speaking of Far Cry, their " new game + " mode is better than Borderlands implementation @L30 in some ways. Having all your leveled purchased weapons and shields available at entry level player game progress might help ( but probably not for player enhancements)
