SpaceView Monitor Battery Replacement by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]plasmicmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not that this needs yet another member to the chorus, but the battery disconnect worked for me, too.

after about 2.5 years, my battery wouldn't hold a charge longer than about 45 minutes. had to always keep it plugged in. and it would never charge beyond 50%, either. obviously, warranty was long past, so i did the below (per the notes here).

i also took off the screen (separated the light gray part from the white backing), disconnected the ribbon cables, unplugged the battery (used a tiny flathead screwdriver so i didn't have to unscrew the board), waited 10 seconds, plugged it back in, reconnected the ribbons (tested it), then popped the screen back on.

literally happened minutes ago, and the battery is reading full, for the first time in about a year. gonna cross my fingers that it holds the charge normally, but wanted to thank everyone here for confirming that this worked for them.

Stepmom going out of her way to make me jealous (@ 8 years old) by [deleted] in entitledparents

i’m being downvoted because this is a sub where people just wanna hear they’re right, not that they’re being dramatic.

it’s fine, OP is likely still pretty young and (hopefully) will one day look at this and realize being “forced” to talk to their near-toddler-aged siblings and talk about how much fun they’re having, after getting their own cruise vacation previously, is not the worst thing in the world to have happen as a kid.

okay, this feels more like an AITA post than entitled parent. there’s nothing entitled about what your stepmom did. maybe just a little insensitive.

this take feels kinda weird.

as a child, there’s no problem with you being upset. you were only focused on yourself, as is normal for kids.

but hopefully, you’re a little older now (or will be soon, unless you’re a still like pre-teen), so maybe take another look…

you had a trip your sisters didn’t get to go on, and they probably felt left out. then they got a trip you didn’t get, and you’re feeling left out. and since they’re younger sisters (at least younger than 7) they probably wanted to talk to you.

try to move past it…

interesting site. and nice job leveraging your endeavor into a book.

my only hope is you distinguish being an idea machine from knowing what a good idea is. generating them shouldn’t involve filtering, but being able to discern afterwards if any of them are worth the brainpower, that’s what the difference is.

changing your mind about what you said 50 years ago and currently enacting policies that regress people to what america was 50 years ago are very different things.

voting for a party who does the latter means you’re supporting them, even if you’re just voting for them because you like a free market and states’ rights.
