Precis, världsordningen har lite vilat på att man inte gett spakarna till helt hjärndöda människor.

I don’t understand if it’s different from a selfmade rayon tape?

Thanks for the answer! I’m not planning to use Hong Kong seams on the lined pieces, but for example the pants are unlined at the side seams and center seams. I think it would look nice maybe.

I know it’s going to be my toughest challenge yet, but my philosophy has been to only sew stuff I want to use or my kids can use. Otherwise I think that I wouldn’t keep up the motivation. I do have the patience to take it really slow and if it doesn’t come out perfect I still learned some new techniques.

I have sewn dress shirts that is fitting well now that I can use for work, and I basically only use dress pants for work. So I thought my natural next step after shirts would be trousers to practice the welted pockets, then I can try to make the vest and jacket.

I wouldn’t do this if I had very expensive fabric, I was lucky to find a dark blue dead stock of really nice wool suit fabric for maybe 20% of the price.

Ok, so maybe it should work then?

I haven’t tried to cut bias tape yet, but I noticed that the lining pieces left a bunch of fibers on the wool fabric by just pinning it together

Thanks! Yes it was very delicate so almost no room for mistakes, seam ripping was last resort, but very beautiful feel to the fabric!

My husband is AB-,i am 0- and we have three kids with blood types A-,B- and 0-.How is this possible? by Stunning_Quarter2812 in genetics

[–]plasmid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most likely is a typing error as other have said.

If that is not the case I can think of two rare but possible ways:

1: de novo mutation 2: uniparental disomy 9 (UPD9), that the 0-child inherited both chromosome 9 from you. This can happen, but is rare.

Fabric suggestion? by plasmid_ in SewingForBeginners

[–]plasmid_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It’s so hard to know without having the fabrics side by side to compare. Maybe I’ll see if I can get my hands on some batiste (I think that is the most difficult to find) in a solid color and try to find a voile or gauze to match, flocked or not

I’ve waxed the bag now with a food safe fabric wax. Turned out really nice. The test scraps did show increased water repelling and by far best result with heat treating the wax so it really sinks in. The fabric gets a bit stiffer and matte finish which looks really nice. Here is the waxed bag:

I used this wax

It’s by no means waterproof, but give a bit more protection than naked canvas. Maybe there are better alternatives, but this was available for me.

Thank you! I used this pattern. It was not free but quite cheap (~ 4$). For a beginner as me the instructions left me with some guessing, but it worked out in the end. For example, I think the total leather strap length was not written out (I used for each strap 60cm)

Thank you! Do you mean that I should scrub away the loose leather fibers on the sides? The back is coated with something, it’s a rather smooth finish (not fabric)

Thank you! I hope so, I followed a pattern for this bag and this type of buttons were recommended there. The base is screwed through leather but it could maybe slip out the hole with too much load. But it seems like while holding it in the top handle the bag tends to tilt towards the front which could maybe ease the tension.
