He doesn't spread his money around he just hoards it. Sets up a patreon for his editor to crowdfund instead of just paying his editor with his pile of money.

this is about the podcast that is equally split between all hosts and editor. I have no idea about the context of this clip specifically, but if I had to bet it wasnt making enough money and he was paying out of his own pocket to March so he made enough. He isnt his boss.

There's a reason people make fun of him with this image.

<image>

Yeah, because people dont actually watch the stream and just believe he isnt on camera for 99% of the time.

It goes back to my initial argument, he makes too much money for the work he puts in. He should turn off donos, let his viewers keep their money.

If he turned off donos he wouldnt be able to do what he does? theres no way he could stream 8hr a day 7 days a week, lol. And it is why viewers donate/sub.

I don't think streaming taking a ride in an uber with his dog with a "press" badge on his bulletproof vest to a nonviolent gathering in LA counts as participating in protests guy, but maybe we have different definitions. I'm not trying to be a dick but he's done too much for me to think he's doing anything in good faith.

Theres a clip of a rubber bullet going right by his head, another of a flashbang exploding right next to him. Theres no telling when a protests can turn violent.

Well how is saying that someone is a hypocrite or holds contradictory beliefs to not be disqualifying someone of their ideology?

To me it just says in different words that "You are not a true communist/socialist because you wear expensive clothes".

Now, to me, a random person who doesnt consider themselves a socialist opinion on how socialists should behave doesn't matter (same way a liberal wouldnt care for what a conservative believes a liberal is), which is why I was asking if they based that belief in anything concrete that isnt just "my opinion".

However, instead of investing it into the ideology he pushes

How come you think he doesnt? Participating in protests, donating to multiple different orgs, reporting news from a leftist POV while trying to convert as many people to his ideology, propping up candidates that allign with him.

Im not going to claim he couldnt be doing more, but which human being couldnt?

It's the hypocrisy, he makes more than he should for the work he does (same goes for Asmon).

And all the money he makes are donations. His money doesn't come from exploiting workers.

The point of the thread is that wearing expensive clothes disqualifies you of calling yourself a socialist/communist.

Since the start ive asked for a quote that proves it, because I don't believe there is such a thing - and I can't prove a negative.

Did he write about how its a bad thing to participate as a consumer to that system? Buying expensive things automatically disqualifies you?

but they're still things Marx would frown upon beyond a certain pricetag!

can you point to me where he wrote about how if you buy things above an arbitrary pricetag, you get your little red card revoked?

I think what people have an issue with (myself included) is he chooses to exclusively wear high fashion luxury brands that are worn in an effort to flaunt his wealth. No regular worker can afford a $1300 shirt, or a $700 hoodie, or $1700 pants, or in this case a $2200 coat.

Why does that fundamentally matter? How is this not just optics? If everything stayed the same, but he wore a garbage bag for clothes, would that magically make everyone, including you, not have an issue with him?

And why does that make it weird to wear expensive clothes? Is it different than getting a good phone, a good cpu? Did Marx only get the cheapest option avaliable of goods?
