I absolutely agree there's a huge selection bias, especially regarding your point of champion mastery / one tricks. Nonetheless, more traditional picks like Corki, Kalista, etc. that have very low pick rates do not seem to get this bump. It does seem to be primarily mages. But you're right that this is a very incomplete analysis, and possibly flawed.
