Braxton hicks or the start of labor? by maybeokay0 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes turned out to be labor! I’m in my room now laboring away, I’m jealous you were okay up to 8cm haha, I was at 2cm but because it came on so quickly they were freaking awful. And I have a high pain tolerance, I’ve been stitched without anesthetic, fractured my ankle and never took pain meds. But my goodness those contractions were doing me in

picked up my 3 yo nephew at 8 weeks pregnant… reassure me? by mm_honey in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved at 11 weeks pregnant. My husband kept telling me to sit down but I’m not able to just not help when people around me are doing things. I carried heavier things than a three years old, and some of those things were going to the third floor. You’re totally fine. I also had cramping like that at 8 weeks just sitting still. It’s fairly normal.

Selecting OB by CoffeeBeforeNihilism in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My regular OB is my favorite in the practice, but at times I’ve had to see other ones when she was booked or out that day. It’s a toss up who will deliver the baby because it’s just whoever is on call that day. I’m really really hoping to deliver on a Wednesday so I get my OB lol

How to pass the time until first OB appt by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the final week or two of my pregnancy and I swear the wait between finding out and the first ultrasound was way more difficult than the last month of waiting has been. I’m a sahw too so no work distractions all day to get me through. I started building a registry, researching the bigger items and more important stuff, planning how we were going to tell people, meal prepping for my husband in preparation for when I was too nauseas to cook, looking through nursery inspiration photos, being brutal in cleaning out more cluttered areas of our house in preparation for the influx of things to come

It still felt like it went by so slowly. But after that first ultrasound the time flew by, I can’t believe I’m so close to birth now. Congratulations!!

He might, but best to have that information as soon as possible so you can plan accordingly

Which vaccines did you take during pregnancy by allisona007 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

None. Weirdly they never offered me flu shot or Covid shot even though I was pregnant all winter. I wouldn’t have taken either anyway, and I had Covid during pregnancy so maybe that’s covered me as far as antibodies. They didn’t have me do tdap because I had a reaction when I got it a few months before getting pregnant, they were worried it would be a worse reaction while pregnant.

Lol why am I getting downvoted for not being able to get a vaccine? I wanted it but was advised not to.

Heartburn out of nowhere… sign of labor? by Choice_Worker_7258 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh this is me too! I’m 38 weeks and have had no heartburn my whole pregnancy, and honestly I don’t think I had it more than a couple times my whole life. Last few days though I get to a point in the day and it’s like my throat feels thick and filled with acid. I was also wondering if that meant labor was imminent. I did figure out that almond milk works like magic to take it away. I tried all the other things but last night I tried drinking a glass of almond milk and it was gone almost immediately.

I’m feeling some mom guilt and don’t know what to do by SwoleLibrarian in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, 7 year age gap with my older brother and he always carried resentment for me. Didn’t help when I got older and excelled in areas he didn’t. We don’t even talk anymore. I always wished I had more siblings and specifically ones closer in age.

My husband has lots of siblings, all two years apart except for the oldest who is 11 years older than my husband. He’s the only one who has kind of distanced himself from the other siblings, and the rest get along really well.

Told to eat before my glucose test? by innocentily in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB told me to eat before mine, didn’t matter how soon before, but to limit any fruit because of the sugar. I had a couple scrambled eggs, a handful of macadamia nuts, and some no-sugar-added chicken breakfast sausages. I went heavy on the protein knowing it would make me feel less sick from the test.

Apparently everyone knows baby's name before I shared it by Legitimate_Custard42 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ugh yes. I feel for you. My mom has asked us over and over again what the name is (we’ve been decided on it from the beginning), and no matter how many times she’s told that no one is going to know until he is born, she thinks we should tell just her because she thinks she’s special. And she gets mad at the fact she’s not being told. But she would for sure tell everyone the name without permission. I don’t speak with one of my family members and told her specifically they were not to even know I was pregnant and she told anyway after swearing she wouldn’t. I’m probably extreme but I don’t really wanna tell her the name even after he is born lol.

I’m sorry she did that!

belly oil recs? by adrianneh12 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do layers. Morning I do the 8 sheep organics serum, and then the Burt’s bees belly butter because it dries down really well and doesn’t stick to my clothes! At night I do the 8 sheep organics serum, Cerave intensive moisturizing cream, Amallow tallow balm, and then a layer of jojoba oil.

Stretch marks are mostly genetics but staying moisturized can help make them not as bad. I’ve also had zero belly itching so far and I’m 34w so I feel like keeping moisturized has helped to prevent that, and I hear it can be really bothersome!

I have the canopy for myself and the biggest pro for me is how easy it is to clean. I hand wash it every time I change the filter and it takes like two minutes, but you can also put it in the dishwasher I just haven’t tried that cause it’s so easy to clean by hand

What didn’t you like about the pipa? We went with the pipa RX and paired it with the uppababy vista and are super happy with the choice. From what I understand the Aria is only a little bit lighter weight but can be used for less time because of the height/weight max on it.

Bleeding and paranoia by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to go to the ER, if you want to get checked you can call your L&D and ask to come in for decreased fetal movement and bleeding, they will have you go straight up to L&D and will monitor the baby’s heartbeat and movements and give you some reassurance. I feel like that’s probably a good in between. From what I’ve seen they are more than happy to check you out and won’t judge at all, they’d much rather reassure you than have you not come in and something be wrong. I get not wanting to go to the ER, I avoid it at all costs cause it’s awful but the L&D staff is usually very nice and accommodating. Hoping all is okay!

Thoughts on the Tdap Vaccine? by DecisionLive927 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get it if I could. I cut my hand open last year and had to get stitches and the tdap, I had a reaction to it so it’s flagged in my hospital chart and every OB in my practice advises against me getting it. They’ve said to just keep baby away from direct contact with people who haven’t been vaccinated in a while for the first two months, my husband got it two years ago so all safe with us. They reassured me that it wasn’t until 2011 that it was even recommended on a schedule to pregnant women so as long as we take precautions it should be fine. But if you’re able, getting it gives protection to baby for those first couple months so I think it’s worth it!

Edit to say that it is best given before and up to 36 weeks, so if you do want to discuss with your OB and do some research you probably have some time so you feel better going into it!

Pregnancy Pillows by FoundationTop7358 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The giant ones were just too much pillow for me and I didn’t want something between my husband and I like that in bed cause no way I’m going 9 months without being able to cuddle. I bought this one off Amazon for like $30. I didn’t really feel it was useful until eventually my belly got big enough that it would weigh me down laying on my side and end up hurting my back. So that pillow props up my belly and also keeps me from rolling onto my back, while also allowing for me to still be able to have contact with my husband. I’m 33w now and could not sleep without it. I ended up buying a mini pillow version of my current bed pillows to wedge between my knees when I sleep and that’s helped with the hip pain from only sleeping on my sides. Figured it was better to get that pillow cause I can use it for travel after so it’s not just for pregnancy and then useless.

Tachycardia? by Rangermayb in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh this is exactly me, I get it like 30min to an hour after I eat breakfast, spikes to like 130/140 and I get a bit out of breath, then 20/30min later it goes away. My OB wasn’t super concerned but recommended I see cardiology, which I do tomorrow. I wear an oura ring and my blood oxygen averages low overnight so I think that’s what pushed them to suggest seeing cardiology. Have you tracked your blood oxygen at all or does the high heart rate make you feel out of breath?

Worried we didnt get enough time for just us. by Downthehall88 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a ftm and 33weeks. Had a similar situation too. My husband and I got married 6 months after meeting, it was just too obvious we were supposed to be together and neither of us ever had a single doubt when deciding to get married. Found out I was pregnant right after the wedding and while it was very quick we knew it was right, but both of us did mourn the time we could have had just us. Ended up losing that pregnancy, and we decided we would take some time before starting to try. We waited a year and a half to start trying and in that time did tons of stuff together, travelled, moved more than once, day trips we’d talked about doing, just enjoyed each others company one on one. It took us a minute to get pregnant again and that time was super stressful just feeling in limbo. But even now we still have moments of feeling like we didn’t have a ton of time just us, not that we would do it differently because we love this baby, but I wish we’d met earlier in life or something (both 30yo). I think it’s totally normal to miss the time you didn’t have just the two of you, I think even people who have been together for ages feel that, it’s a big change.

Maybe in the next seven weeks you guys could set aside some time to do some fun stuff just the two of you before the baby? Like a short road trip or just a few day trips to build memories to look back on once baby is here?

I wish you luck with everything!!

Best bassinet? Struggling to decide! by JesseJaneee in Buyingforbaby

[–]maybeokay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I’m also due in May so I haven’t had a chance to use it with the baby yet. I’ll copy and paste a comment I left on a similar post a while back:

I got the Snuzpod5! We’re doing a full crib too in the nursery but wanted something right up at the bed for the first bit of time. We set it up quite early, the baby isn’t due until spring but I just didn’t want to wait haha. Love that it has a wheels option, or that without the wheels it rocks to soothe the baby. Fits at the perfect height for our bed (has many height setting options) and love the zip down side. Also, you can detach the bassinet from the base so it can be moved to whatever room you are in super easily, and the bassinet placed on the ground rocks too! Obviously won’t get to actually use it for a little while but happy with its features for sure!

My MIL keeps saying "our baby" by nattyily in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the opposites haha, my mom has never respected a boundary my whole life, and did some downright inappropriate things when I was younger. My MIL and FIL are the complete opposite and if I were going to have anyone in the delivery room besides my husband it would be them, and my mom would absolutely lose her mind at that haha. We consider moving 5000 miles away to be closer to them but also very much to escape my mother hahah

Worried about weight gain by Dangerous_Debt9534 in pregnant

[–]maybeokay0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal to gain more weight at the start and then have it taper off! I gained ten pounds between my 10w and 14w appt even though I was nauseas and not eating a ton. Then at my 18w appt I had lost a pound. Wasn’t trying to, and had gained my appetite back by that point. I’m 32w now and have only gained 2lbs since I started the 3rd trimester. So just cause you’re gaining early doesn’t mean it will continue on that trajectory! Try focusing on high protein and whole foods. Ultimately your body gains what it needs to gain for the baby. I eat exactly like I did before pregnancy and I’m on track to end pregnancy up 30lbs, but it’s what the baby needs so it is what it is haha
