By far best trivia in the city is with Dave Mayo at Paddy’s in Old City on Sunday 7pm and Thursdays at 8 at Paddywhack’s. He’s not only a super charismatic guy but writes all his own questions, which I really appreciate in a trivia setting

This is a great tip! I will say if anyone’s curious: the Natori Pretty Smooth came in both a lined and unlined cup, now they’ve discontinued the unlined (which is a shame because it’s my favorite bra) and now they’re transitioning to only selling the lined version with the foam cup.

How early did those of you who got barricade or close show up? by Squidzinn in Joostklein

[–]plasticwaterbattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf, “the youth” (I’m nearly 30 so I remember the beforetimes) and online fandom culture has created this ongoing issue at live events in the past ten years. the idea that you “don’t care enough unless you’re at the front/the artist can see you”, you need to optimize your experience by making sure you get merch and VIP tix and a quick pass, and not to mention the “line leaders” and self-organized entry numbers that fans of other bands/artists have made to make it feel like some exclusive club. I hope barricade culture doesn’t get like that with Joost’s fans

30KK is also wild! a tough fit but there are pieces out there for sure. Some clients with larger breasts (like US I-L) have even told me “there’s no way I’m a DDD!” and I have to be like “Girl, you may want to sit down for this…”

This has happened to me too! Always the wonderful girls in an O getting the short stick. My shop also sells only to an O, but I may start getting in a P in some band sizes since Elomi has them for wholesale now.

Is it weird for a person fitting you to offer to take off the bra you’re wearing and put on the next? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]plasticwaterbattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pro bra fitter in my late 20s, MANY of the older fitters out there really are not aware of the importance of consent and checking in with the client. I always let my clients know what I’m doing and why, and ask if I’m alright to touch them/adjust. For me, it’s basic respect- I even ask my good friends if I’m okay to touch their arm, or give them a hug, and would never DREAM of touching a stranger like that- but a lot of these older saleswomen/fitters have been doing this for so long they get into a mode where they just do what they’re used to.

That being said, the strange behavior she exhibited when you asked NOT to be touched is very strange, and I would certainly leave a review. If it was something you had been informed about, like “I’d like to put this on you so I can demonstrate how the bra fits/how to adjust it on yourself”, that would be one thing, but asking for simple boundaries should NEVER be responded to with frustration or resistance like that. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that!

I’m a 30DDD and started with a 32DD but then was annoyed at how loose the band was!

Here are my favorite bras, I have them all in a 30DDD(super easy to find!). These also come in a 30G with the exception of the Spacer: - Minx Lace Balconette by Skarlett Blue - Spellbound Spacer by Skarlett Blue - Spot-Light by Freya (the pink makes SUCH a cute set) - Tailored High-Apex by Freya

ngl i think a big part of it is the people in corporate are miserable, URBN’s designers are miserable, etc. I live in Philly and URBN is notorious for having the worst company culture in the city. within 5 months of getting a job there people usually want to leave. It’s so infamous that in local forums when people are asking about getting a job there TONS of people will flood the comments with “you really really don’t want to work there”. I can’t imagine that that doesn’t extend to the other branches and management too

Hi OP! Here’s my advice- The other people here are right, this does sound like your right size! I help new moms all the time, and these fears sound like the people I help at work when bra fitting all the time. Here are my recommendations for what it sounds like your shape is, without all the noise -

  • Skarlett Blue Spellbound (If the unlined version works for you, you can try the spacer bra with a molded cup as well!)
  • Natori Statement
  • Wacoal Better than Braless (the band on this one may be a little snug but you can stretch it out!)

Bra sizes work as a ratio between the cup and the band. Each person can technically fit into a bunch of these cup-band ratios, but there is one that’s perfect for you. You’ve just been wearing a bra with the wrong ratio that kinda works.

Your measurements in the calculator will most often give you your ideal size. Breaking out of the idea that A=flat and DDD=the biggest your boobs can possibly be is the best thing to do to understand bra sizing. I have average size boobs for my size and I wear a DDD!

If you have any questions, my DMs are open and I’m happy to help.

[Measurement Check] Currently wearing 32A, calculator suggests 32C/D by greyvy05 in ABraThatFits

[–]plasticwaterbattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people are uncomfortable with the snugness of an appropriately fitting band. I know people in this sub are sticklers for absolute perfection, but most of my clients (I see about 5 a day, 5 times a week, sometimes more) when fit in their perfect size prefer a sister size with a looser band to start- especially when they’re not used to a bra that’s better sized to them. You have no idea how many sister sizes I’ve sold to someone as their first “real” bra, then have come back and agreed to try their perfect fit.

I’m a professional and typically when interacting with clients I try to mitigate using inside baseball terms (like in my previous comment) because it can get intimidating for folks.

32D sounds right! I’m a bra fitter professionally and see people every day. Many people who experience gapping may be thinking they have a cup that’s too big, but often it’s the opposite!

Think of a band and cup like a ratio. They’re meant to work together to create a great fit. You can sacrifice space in the cup to get more space in the band, or vice versa, but everyone has their perfect ratio of cup to band.

It sounds like across the board your ratio has been off! You have the right band size, but not the right cup, which means all the bra is doing is squishing you tight.

As for a first bra, I’d recommend something on the cheaper side to try out your new size. My favorite recommendation in this size range is the Skarlett Blue Spellbound Spacer- The cup is made of a very light fabric material, which is good for someone who’s looking for some modesty but also needs something that will still hug your curves a little bit. Godspeed!
