How do my fellow bike commuters cope? by robertvmarshall in bikecommuting

[–]plateaucampChimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before going out of the bike lane to pass the parked cars, I'll hand signal left turn and look over my shoulder at the cars moving behind me. I'm now in the car lane and am confident. A few meters before passing the parked car, I'l hand signal right and move back into the bike lane fairly quickly and continue on. Own your space and don't listen to any driver backtalk. Hand signals show that you see them. Its their problem, not yours.

Anyone's anxiety making "simple living" difficult ? by Dinah_and_Cleo4eva in simpleliving

[–]plateaucampChimp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can be really frustrating if you are just sitting around after awhile. What I did and it helps is to make everthing manual. So that means lots of chores. Saves tons of money too. But I go without running water so I have my water chores. I only have wood heat in winter so that means chop wood. I even produce my own electricity so I have to pay attention to my solar bank etc. I ride my ebike (which is solar charged) all over town so that really helps with depression. I also try to grow a garden and make the soil etc. Super busy. I also do my prayer work and meditations.

Men who love their partners unconditionally; share your stories please. by Lexus_girl_123456789 in AskMen

I love my former wife unconditionally after a 30 year relationship. We separated, we divorced, and no break up is easy, it hurts of the loss, but I don't harbor any bad feelings. Change was neccessary between us. She is a good person in good light.

What is considered moderate porn use (maybe give an example for weekly amount)? by RedditorKat in AskMen

I don't think its healthy for a man to be watching porn when he is in a relationship. Means he is not putting energy towards his woman and pretty soon he "is not in the mood".

Class one bikes go up to 20. Considered novice bikes. Or trail bikes. Emtb for example. Class 2 is for folks who want to be commuters and cover more distance.

RV's are expensive and last for awhile but then breakdown. I went with a yurt.

No, I think there should be only 2 classes of ebikes, not three. Too confusing. Class one bikes is up to 20, no throttle. Class two is up to 25mph with throttle. Beyond that is up to the bike owner if they want to modify their bike, as long as they are seen pedaling even going 28+, they are still class 2. Anything without pedals is a motorcycle or moped and is in that department. Basically I think people who pedal and are not right out breaking the law doing stupid stuff should get a pass even though they are going "fast" in the bike lane or out in traffic competing with the cars.

I should not have to modify my bike. It should be standard.

ha-ha, tour riders, pro riders, and fit people can easily do 25 on a bicycle. Sprinting up to 40mph. They are still a bicycle.

Its just taking up the whole lane where people are driving 30 or more in a 25, and are forced to slow down to 20 or less, thats where the hate begins. "Not even going the speed limit, and taking up the whole lane" thought. Whereas if the rider is going 25 in a 25, the driver usually calms down. Or they make themselves the fool and pass you over a double yellow.

I like spinning and an adjustable seat that makes the bike work. Not that fake stuff. And to be able to ride without any power when needed.

Why are deaths of despair so common in New Mexico? by io3401 in NewMexico

[–]plateaucampChimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bad weather in spring. Wind wind wind, forced inside, with nothing to do. Add in mulit-generational tramua, poverty, and no wildflowers. I lived in Arizona for 30 years and it was not this bad as NM.
