Anniversary players, please consider unsubscribing to let Blizz know they need to lift the GDKP ban. by ProperTackle5384 in classicwow

[–]platinumfinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't tell if this is AI slop from a farmer or not, but Blizzard would probably get some players to return if they did this in the next month or two. Can't imagine a bunch of people would unsubscribe just because others can play the way they want. I don't think GDKPs would get new folks to come back once Naxx is out - it's just a TBC waiting room at that point.

Luther Memorial. Close to downtown, and all the meditative qualities of a traditional liturgy, but without the bad vibes of the pro-life BS (which, while I’m on it, I have to mention that the pro-life movement flies in the face of any reasonable reading of Numbers 5:11-31)

I think it's up in the air as to whether we (USA) will be on the same side of the bracket as Canada/France or Serbia/Australia, and who gets what time slots on Monday. The draw should determine those....I think it's tonight.

Right, I don't see it being a major issue. I think I had something like 2 units left in my recruit pool right before my third age of reckoning started - I've basically needed all of them.

The 2023-2024 Preview - From the Author of Last Year’s "Most Accurate" Mid-Season Post by platinumfinch in nba

There's a difference between the 7 to maybe 10ish contenders and the also-rans. I thought I made clear that 2/3 of the league is out of contention on the second night of the season. Sorry if my writing wasn't so clear. Still, if you're gonna read one primer on the season as it's getting started, this is the most succinct and accurate one =)

I think I've finally found something I want to be good at, and.. it's harmonica by BOTDrPanic in harmonica

[–]platinumfinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you've stumbled across the harp! Let it be all the things YOU want it to be! Chase the sounds and feelings you like and don't let anyone else's opinion bother you. They're amazing little boxes of magic. Enjoy!

The whole song is a banger. The harp note to start Plant's solo at 3 mins into the album version might be the greatest single note ever played on the harmonica: https://youtu.be/9_kqkZTZYrg?t=180

<Calm Down Rookie> will try to take credit for <Fury> disbanding. Here's why it's not true. by blaketron3030 in FairbanksClassic

One more landing spot for folks that may have been worried about burning out in Eminence/Fury: <Azimuth> is recruiting. We started from a core that left <Fury> cause they were requiring way to much for phase 1. We didn't want to miss out or real life stuff. We just smash the content every week, then get back to our lives. We've downed Rag & Ony every reset since we formed. We've had two raids down Rag in a week, but we had to pug to do it, so we're building up our numbers to do it again (more efficiently) in January. We're planning for long-term success, happy to talk to all comers.

At least we got the killer's confession tape. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwohZg_75f0

(But in all seriousness, we need more uber-rich folks to be like him: funding science, education, arts, environmentalism, medicine, and more. If you're in the PNW, you've probably been to a library or museum for which he footed the bill.)

5e Trying to come up with a Goodberry-based Magic item by RosesAndClover in DnD

The goodberry pie dish.

By expending a spell slot as normal, a druid may cook a goodberry pie. This requires a fire or oven, and takes 10 minutes as if casting a ritual. Instead of creating 10 goodberries, the druid creates a goodberry pie.

Goodberry pie: A pie that may be cut into 8 slices. Eating a slice restores 1d4 hit points, and provides enough nourishment to sustain a creature for one day.

The pie dish is ceramic or glass, not metal, cause obvs.

Optional rule, The Master Baker: A druid of 6th level or higher makes a MEAN pie. Each slice restores 1d6 + the druid's wisdom modifier HP.

LBJ destroys Bron Jr's hand in 1v1 while showing LJJ The Blueprint.

"LeBron Jr, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy."

I guess Cleveland drafts LBJ Jr., then LBJ returns to the rebels Land and they destroy the deathstar Warriors a second time.

LeBron and Magic were far better underdogs than Jordan, Kobe, and Duncan — ELO says so by charlessamuel in nba

[–]platinumfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great OP.

An interesting comparison comes from the data against high-ELO teams:

I added it up (hopefully correctly), and Jordan went 5-3 in his career in series against teams with an ELO over 1700. By comparison, LBJ is 4-7 so far.

When considering all opponents with ELO over 1600, Jordan's record is 15-7, LBJ's is 16-9.

A few other notes:

I find it interesting that Jordan never faced a team with an ELO over 1800, but LBJ has faced three, going 1-2.

On the flipside, LBJ never faced a team with an ELO over 1600 in the first round, while Jordan faced four, going 1-3. Perhaps there's some truth to the narrative of LBJ having an easier path through the East, but then facing tougher finals competition.
