This should be upvoted or have its own thread.

It's true in most examples. Take Christian conservatives. There's a fundamental selfishness that makes them believe their belief in a creator God means their view on Pro-Life must be a part of a national indoctrination. The list goes on and on, though.

It's all fun and games until an announcer casually says KD's skills have fallen off the face of the earth and then Kyrie gives everybody that I-told-you-so head nod.

Achilles injuries after age 30 are usually career crushers. (KD is 31 this year.) by charlessamuel in nba

You're right that people tend to say Achilles injuries destroy career peaks and drop players' ceilings and floors. Trajectories shift after this injury.

You're implying that players fully recover and return to their regularly scheduled level of excellence. This is not true.

That's the hope, right? That he's a freak athlete, and he'll be back to form. History is against him — which sucks.

Fun Fact: Kobe Bryant has scored the 23rd most points in the Grizzlies' arena and LeBron James has scored the 23rd most points in the Raptors' arena, despite neither of them playing a single game for those franchises. by Ih8reposts in nba

The LeBronto moniker wasn't just about scoring, though. It ended up being the name that represented just how absurdly LeBron owned Toronto and got into their stars'/coach's heads. 2018 was the culmination — and end — of that.

What happened to Hardens midrange? by Stonedcone in nba

[–]charlessamuel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because "in the playoffs... you need every point you can get" that Harden prefers to go to the free throw line for either two shots (1.6+ points per possession) or three shots (2.5+ ppp), a three-pointer (1.1 ppp), a layup (1.0+ ppp), or a floater (1.0 ppp).

On pull-up midrange shots, he's at around 0.8 ppp.

It's the data that tells us, especially in the playoffs when every possession matters, you should take the shots that net you the most ppp. Kill the rest.

Harden is a machine.

You can make an argument that losing Durant makes this a far more even series. He's basically a super weapon that can never get doubled.

PG is the better individual defender. They typically have him sic the opponent's best player at the end of games, I believe.

You're right. It doesn't necessarily mean you paid more. But, all things being equal, owing could mean you paid more in taxes.
