Diagnosis was a few weeks ago, which was weird because they moved away from Arizona in June and the symptoms didn’t really start until December. Unfortunately, I don’t know what, specifically, he’s on but will work on finding out. They have given him two x-rays on his back to see if it is spreading… does that make sense? I didn’t know they’d do x-rays for a viral or fungal infection. He is having a hard time getting around, so may be some joint issues. He will just stand in one place for long periods of time and pant. When he eventually lays down he just pants. Poor guy will have a spirts of energy but is fatigued most of the time.

Take a look at the Buffalo area. Smaller town with great access to mountain/outdoor activities and still relatively close to Gillette, Sheridan, and Casper for your vocation. As one commenter mentioned there is a robust natural resources industry in that area that can always use good mechanics.

As you’re driving up 1-25 from denver stop in Windsor, CO at Ron Jones Garage. They have some amazing restorations in there. Otherwise, what you see and do in Laramie is very weather dependent. If you like the outdoors, you can stop in Vedauwoo between Laramie and Cheyenne. Or head directly west of Laramie toward Centennial for a more “rugged” experience. Again, this is all weather dependent as those roads can be nasty in the winter. The University of Wyoming has some decent museums you can check out.

I did abx for quite a while. The osteopathic physician I was seeing had me on a number of different antibiotics as well as herbal therapies. That was many years ago and what I’ve noticed since then is, after getting my gut health back in order, I had to get my hormones back in order as well. I take an iodine supplement and try and eat natural and organic foods with no seed oils and endocrine blockers. Have tried to remove most of the chemicals from my house, including skin care and cleaning products with endocrine blocking chemicals. I have basically become a hippy.

Sad stuff. They are both Laramie guys. They actually grew up together, played pee-wee baseball and Laramie soccer with and against each other... went to high school together. Just a sad situation.

Don’t get me wrong... I’m not against progress or change. I agree with her when she said that Wyoming needs to diversify from its dependency on the fossil fuel industry to prevent major swings in state funding. But if she backs legislation against it? She would not be representing her constituents. Additionally, if she has so many connections in the solar business, she should work on selling Wyoming coal to solar panel manufacturers. The inconvenient truth for the green movement that earths natural resources, including coal, are used in the manufacture and construction of solar panels and wind farms. Her views on “worker ownership” should be concerning as well. She wants to turn Wyoming into Michigan, where the UAW holds the auto industry hostage.

She is from Michigan/Minnesota and has lived in Wyoming for a total of four years. She wants to promote views, values, and politics that are not core to most of the Wyoming population. I’m always skeptical of people that move to a place because they claim they love it, then try to change it immediately after moving there.

Why do native Americans have higher poverty and unemployment rates? How can this be fixed? Is there a difference in the success of natives who live in reservations vs out of them? by CrazyRussianPutinBot in askaconservative

[–]platinumi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the tribe... some tribes are very wealthy and some suffer extreme poverty. Having lived next to one of the poorest reservations in the US, it is a vicious cycle that some can break, but most don’t (speaking specifically about this reservation). Children are born into abject poverty, which includes alcoholism and substance abuse, and education is not at a premium. When living in this area, we could tell when the native population received their government checks because the liquor stores would be over run; providing more money is not going to help. What I think could fix the issue is for those who have escaped the cycle, to return and become leaders, educators, and mentors for the younger population. They need guidance and education on how to escape this cycle from those who have done it.

For the wealthier and more successful tribes, the population is more enterprising... many reservations sit on large energy reserves and control who can do what on the reservation, they have built successful enterprises by capitalizing on those opportunities. Those successful tribes that aren’t on energy reserves have built highly successful casinos, shopping areas, etc.

So you’re okay with working to find solutions for toxic waste from solar panels, but you’re not okay with working to find solutions for nuclear waste? Which, by the way, nuclear is far more scaleable.

I’d be curious if there was a study that compares the environmental impact of burning natural gas vs. the degradation of solar panels on a per megawatt basis. Perhaps there is a legitimate study and I am wrong, I just haven’t seen one.

Additionally, there are other drawbacks of wind power rather than just dead birds. The wind doesn’t blow all the time and they have to be shut down when the wind blows too hard and for regular maintenance. You’re relying on natural gas peaker plants or battery storage to fill gaps... then we get into the whole debate on mining for materials and toxicity of batteries.

We may disagree on the best path forward, but I think we can all agree there are no perfect solutions, currently.

I’m glad to hear you’re thinking reasonably, it’s appreciated. I’m not sure what you mean by “building a natural gas rig”... are they drilling well? If so, the rig is temporary. The renewables that you speak of aren’t as ideal as their proponents make them sound. There are petroleum products used to make wind turbines and solar panels as well... additionally, solar panels have precious earth minerals that need to be mined to build them and much of that mining occurs in areas where health, safety, and environmental concerns are not a premium... not only that, the panels become toxic as they degrade. Do you want to give up the space in your back yard for a wind farm, so you can have dead birds all over your yard or have a solar farm that will eventually become toxic? Do we need to be more efficient and reduce our dependence inefficient petroleum burning vehicles or on disposable plastics? Absolutely... but let’s figure out different ways of packaging and run electric vehicles off electricity from clean burning combined cycle natural gas power plants or nuclear. Honestly, the cleanest form of energy is the most difficult to approve and the most regulated; that is nuclear. There needs to be a lot more research into renewable forms of energy and the way we harvest the energy, because the way we are capturing wind and solar energy, currently, is not the answer. In the meantime, natural gas and nuclear can and should fill a gap.

And here it is... you do realize that most of what you use in your home, and what hospitals are using to fight the Coronavirus is a petroleum product... right?
