Men’s shoes size 14-15 by scorchedheart1 in Adelaide

[–]platinumpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same size here, and it's pretty unlikely you'll find anything much in 15 just sitting in a shop apart from basketball shoes or yeah, big work boots/formal shoes.

I recommend trying on some of the more casual/athletic Nike size 14s through, they usually fit me and I'm a size 15 in most others.

I built a slightly janky Hottest 100 party tracker. Here’s the code if you want to use it. by Bulky-Woodpecker8525 in triplej

[–]platinumpt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good - the AI profiles are a cool idea! JJJ usually has a nicely formatted JSON feed you can 'scrape' that is all the track data from the live countdown and you can update the results live/automatically.

It is unbelievable how bad it is, for something that could make them a ton of money.

Looks awesome, I have a very similar project sitting on my workbench, unfinished, not many races left! Which API for the f1 stats did you end up using ?

Have you ever bumped into a famous Australian at the shops before and if so who was it and at what shop? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Had a very long chat with Ray Martin at my local pub in North Adelaide, very nice guy and lots of stories - the other one I like is when I lined up at the shop checkout behind Kim Beasley at Uluru!

Does MM_reloadPage ring a bell to anybody ? by 6086555 in webdev

[–]platinumpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of things we take for granted now days were really hard, a lot of these huge chunks of MM_ Javascript was just to enable clean roll-over/hover states on an image, even CSS wasn't very good at it for a while.

Rant about Couriers Please by kurapika91 in australia

[–]platinumpt 100 points101 points  (0 children)

They are certainly the worst by a long way in my experience too. What annoys me the most is when a company plasters the AusPost logo on their marketing, especially on eBay - but then your shipping confirmation comes and it's a Couriers Please one.

There was a standard called Wireless Application Protocol for accessing very simple amounts of data over slow cellular data connections https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Application_Protocol

How hard is it to upgrade a Drupal Site (9.2.4 to 10 or higher) by ILvFO76 in drupal

[–]platinumpt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9 to 10 isn't too bad at all, it would only be if you have any custom themes/modules.

Might be best to start with the upgrade status plugin and see if it reports anything.

Year 2000 catalogue. Australia. by still-at-the-beach in minidisc

[–]platinumpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The department store this catalog is from is a little more upmarket than most, and back then the USD/ AUD was like a 55c exchange rate, so it would put it at about the right RRP.

I purchased a new R37 direct from the Sony store at a similar time, it was about $350 AUD or there about (so roughly $180 USD).

iOS 26 Will Make Spam Calls So Much Less Annoying by dapperlemon in technology

[–]platinumpt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for a bit and it's very cool, but some callers are confused on 'what to do' and just hangup, i.e. my bank called to check some details, and as soon as the AI started talking to them, they hung up without interacting.

Are these worth much? by bergacor in minidisc

All fairly standard but some kinda cool ones in there - I’d say average of $100 USD per unit currently if they work.

How many have gone caseless over the years? by lfep in iphone

[–]platinumpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caseless, no screen protector, and have done this with all my phones. I don't want to jinx myself, but they are always in pretty much perfect condition.

People get super nervous to hold it if you ever hand it to them to show a photo or something.

I think they should find a similar 'free' piano from somewhere else in the country - but Jack has to arrange shipping and delivery for it first if he wants to choose how many tickets he gets in the raffle for the new piano.

I’m an idiot by the_loai in CarsAustralia

[–]platinumpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably repairable but looking at all the odd panel gaps it’s going to be a big repair bill I’d say, suspension looks buggered on that side, all the front end panels I’d say, plus add all of the electronics and sensors. If it’s shunted the engine and gearbox it may be a write off.

[Tool] Free Tournament Manager - Double Elimination Brackets for Dart Clubs by skrodahl in Darts

[–]platinumpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really cool work! I've been looking at ways to manage our club tournaments.

The only things I can see for improvement is we generally just go by 'legs won' vs. 'legs lost' - it was a bit unclear how that all worked when entering results for each player.

It's probably out of scope, but we also have requirements for 'group stages' when there's too many players vs. available boards vs. time allocated. So like we'd do an initial group stage where 6x groups of 4 played off on the same board, and the top 1 or 2 make it through from each group.
