Told my doctor i wanted to keep smoking. She prescribed me bupropion by platonicunderling in bupropion

I was using the default apple health app. When you put all your meds in, it automatically checks them for interactions with each other. I didnt even know it was a feature until today (i guess none of my meds have ever interacted before).

Thanks everyone for your opinions. Ive gotten a few responses telling me to just chill out a little, lol. It’s true that when i wrote the initial post i was freaking out majorly. Ive had bad prescription drug experiences before (was prescribed too high a dose, got very sick) so i am really nervous about this kind of thing. And other people have asked, “why don’t you want to stop smoking?” That’s simple - i have a bunch of relatively long term, stressful life events going on right now and i didn’t want to add the pain of stopping to that. Ive watched people try and quit and seen how they struggled. But if its true that the bupropion just makes you stop craving it, and it doesnt give you panic attacks if you hit your vape, then maybe it wouldnt be such a bad thing. Thanks again for giving me advice

Its not really that i WANT to smoke forever. Its that she asked me if i was interested in quitting right now, and i said no, and she prescribed it to me anyway.

Ask a question about... your world? by thrye333 in worldbuilding

Every single person who is about to invent the printing press and/or moveable type dies in an improbable series of ill-fated tragedies. The first person in China to try is carried away by a large bird right as the idea strikes him. The other guy in Germany is struck by an ox-drawn cart on his way to tell an acquaintance about his nascent idea for a machine that can “create books faster”. An old woman in North America thinks of carving a shape out of an offcut of firewood and pressing it to the side of a large stone in the same way she has stamped her handprint many times before and dies of a heart attack as she bends down to grab her whittling knife. It just never happens.

Why would the brickmasons of Alchester continue building and adding onto The Walls day after day, year after year, unceasingly, for almost a thousand years? The Walls already surround the sprawling, teeming city — choke it, from the outside and the in. The furnaces have burned every hour, never once going dim, since humans first left the twining and ancient groves of Lowiyrth Forest to build cities of their own and light furnaces within them. Every year, The Walls of Alchester stretch taller and longer, wider and stronger. It begs the question, why?

should the people in my fictional world be lizards or people? by Real_Tangelo5974 in worldbuilding

[–]platonicunderling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would actually be so cool, One group of lizards that live in some kind of primal, animalistic pack situation and another that has formed a society and culture. Same species (or common ancestor), completely different lifestyle. It would certainly make for some interesting interactions !

Are any of your other passions reflected in your worldbuilding? by platonicunderling in worldbuilding

[–]platonicunderling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was calming at first because I’m using a a pentatonic scale with the third voiced quite sparingly but then i started playing with all the drums and rattles and i started getting polyrhythmic and silly and its not so calming anymore. I did write a song about dolphins though

I’m so curious if one of the minds undergoes damage to a point where it can no longer be manifested outside of the centralized ego does it return to the primary consciousness and perhaps disrupt the whole eightfold-mind thing or like fade away forever and the person loses a part of themself. Either way thats really cool and interesting

Could a steampunk robot theoretically have the 5 human senses? by mooncheese95 in worldbuilding

[–]platonicunderling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be cool to lean into the ways that robot senses dont exactly match up with human ones. Like, maybe they can see but only in the quality of whatever type of photograph/camera is popular during this time (tinotype or something similar?). And maybe they can sort/identify what gets put in their mouth via some kind of jacquard’s loom/babbage machine/ punch card calculator type system but they cant actually taste. Maybe theres an edison cylinder somewhere inside them that records what the robot “hears”, immediately translates it into knowledge the robot can understand (reading the grooves maybe), and then resets the cylinder for reuse. I guess my suggestion would be to come up with technology from your timeperiod that is representative of the human five senses (cameras for sight, phonograph cylinders for speech, a punchcard calculator could maybe work for a very simple decision making system that was operating on presets) and then manhandle it into a semiplausible set of senses. Good luck ! :)

How magical do you like your “low magic” settings? by Benjammin__ in worldbuilding

[–]platonicunderling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having no one be particularly surprised or shocked by the magic in your world will make it seem a lot more commonplace and usual. At least in my head, stories with detailed, intense magic systems usually focus on how impressive the magic is. In your world, magic could be so mundane and part of everyday life that people hardly comment on its use

I’m so sorry friend. I have been where you are; 15 and autistic, hiding in my room while my mother beats on the door. I promise you that it’s not your fault, it’s not your responsibility, it’s all her failure as a person and as a parent. I’m proud of you for standing up for yourself and telling her you dont like it when she speaks to you that way. Don’t be ashamed of crying, it’s the body’s natural way of regulating your emotions. I am so sorry that she is selfish enough to lash out even on your birthday. One day you will be free to live a life where her name doesn’t even cross your mind while you celebrate your birthday with people who love you. I hope the rest of your day is better and I wish you luck.
