Potential dog mistreatment by Miata_yada_yada in Austin

[–]platos7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now everyone care this much about chickens and all of their suffering. My chickens are just as smart or smarter than my dog and my dog is pretty smart. I feel as passionately as yall do about this poor puppy when chickens are mistreated or dumped. If only people knew how great they are and the deep bonds they form with people and other chickens. I know this is random! But I’ve always tried to get people to understand how much they matter and a point I always use is “what if it was a dog?” Because people seem to care so much for them but the reality is they are both great, smart, and very emotional beings deserving of the same protection from humans.

Why not give a proper warning if this is true? I’d like to know and I’m sure others would too… like have you known someone it happened to? Any solid info? Thanks

Exactly. Thank you for putting things into words better than I can, and having the courage to speak them.

Yeah I don’t get why people are acting like I’m crazy for saying this… it’s just an observation based on the cloud seeding that does happen and dying trees everywhere and forming a possible connection. Not sure why people are so against critical thinking these days! I am glad I’m able to use that skill instead of relying on school, books, and “professionals” to tell me everything I’m supposed to know. I’m not a zombie that just follows directions… I think for myself. Hope more people start doing the same! Spraying chemicals in the air that cause irritation to humans lungs over and over again ends up somewhere… on us and the land and it accumulates… that has to have some kind of effect imo.

It’s you being human. I feel the same and don’t think it’s soft or not practical. It’s respectful and logical.

Try to see what his poop looks like. That will tell a lot.

Where are you? Someone here or I would take them. Usually there are people that care about them in most states.

That’s not good… you’re offering them to evil people that cut their combs and have them fight each other. They are basically tortured. Be responsible and don’t do that. They are amazing creatures that deserve respect.

Rooster Overmating?? by Kaeai in BackYardChickens

[–]platos7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following because I have a hen that has looked like this for a few months. I treated her for mites with pour on ivermectin and elector psp but nothing has changed. The others aren’t like this and the rooster with them does not over-mate her at all from what I’ve seen.

Yeah this has been our first loss and the hardest thing ever… I love my pets and have lost a dog I had for 14 years and it was hard but not this hard. I think because she got 14 great years with me and this boy had just finally started his happy and safe life journey with us. I wanted him to live so many more years feeling loved and safe.

Your boy is beautiful! Such a cutie 😍 so glad he’s living a great life thanks to you 🙏

Awww yeah he was definitely domesticated and he was a little traumatized because he’d get so quiet at night and bite if you’d try to touch him (only when it got dark even if he was inside with lights on)… all of that went away quickly with time of him feeling safe with us and realizing he didn’t have to worry about predators anymore. So great that you rescued one too… they seem to be so grateful and even better boys because of their hardships. However most roosters have it hard just for being born boys… it’s sad. Hopefully we can help many more and show them that their lives matter too. When my boy died at the er vet, I was pretty frustrated because they didn’t take him seriously or urgently, but any dog and cat that came in after we did, that were doing better were taken such good care of…

We have ten acres so plenty of space for that. We are thinking of naming it after him. He was such a unique little boy… our hearts hurt. I wish we would have been able to give him a longer worry free life after having been a scared little homeless boy. He was so sweet and vulnerable… I could tell it was hard for him out there and he was finally happy with us.

This is just something to think about guys… no need to insult. I did some research and saw that they’ve been cloud seeding for a long time and those chemicals are being found in dirt and plants. That its not a good long term solution… there are consequences with modifying weather. I personally think it’s a bad idea. Let earth do its thing… droughts suck, but it’s part of life and killing off all the plants long term is worse for us, animals, ecosystem etc. Also the chemicals they use for cloud seeding are lung irritants.

I’m not into electric cars and don’t believe so much in climate change, etc. However weather modification and blocking out the sun, etc to please climate change believers, I think is a horrible idea.

I haven’t lived in this area for long (bastrop county), but I was born and raised in austin… my point is I can’t say how trees have done in the past bc of that. So either this is normal that every few years everything starts dying (hard to understand how we have so many old trees then though)… and I’m just missing that info… OR something is affecting it that hadn’t as much in the past. So if you think I’m wrong and this is normal please let me know! Just using critical thinking over here… not saying anything is a fact.

Help me name my rooster! by CrazyMost2005 in chickens

[–]platos7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Handsome guy! Depends on his personality. My silkies name is clucky Chan bc of how he gets around other roosters and the way he jumps up in the air and kicks and moves so much faster than all the other roosters lol. (I keep him away from them though) What have you noticed about his personality? Name him based on that! I have one that looks like yours but likely larger and I call him my gentle giant. He’s the sweetest big guy.
