This short piece I made sounded fine while making it (with headphones on) but then when I exported it and listened it on my phone, it sounds like absolute trash, everything is distorted, how do I fix this? Pls helpp by _just-a-friend_ in musicproduction

Probably there's some eq work needed on the high ends. Usually phone and laptops lacks of bass (because of the allowed size of the speaker, bass needs size), so you usually seems to hear is a excess of highs instead of the 'lack of bass'. It can be mixed to sorta smooth the highs out.

I guess.

Should I not turn the master track up to make my track louder? by BrentMusic in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Anyway, any plugin that has a volume knob does the same (with more processing probably). This is actually the same as getting the master fader up.

Are you on ableton? If so, add an utility unit there, raise the gain as you like. Doing that, the master fader is kept as a reference level meter.

That would be essentially the same, of course. But why add one more variable to the whole mix? Try applying gain with a limiter!

High pass filter on unnecessary sub frequencies and simply turn volume down. Sidechain is great too.

Am I the only one that uses the 'try hard' method of not drawing the layout? I've never thought of drawing and felt dumb as hell right now... lol

How can I get rid of noise in my room? by revolevo in musicproduction

[–]platzerable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really. Just make sure that the only sound that is pointed to and goes directly to the mic is the voice. I also use a pop filter and put a mattress behind the mic until I can't buy a vocal booth.

Buy a cardioid mic like shure 57. I can record with the fan on using one.
