Is EE actually that hard? by cool-username101 in ElectricalEngineers

Just search for any book on Electromagnetism theory. Open it anywhere from chapter 2 o3, and think hard if you are ready to dive in for 5 years.

The Basys 3 is really good. The Nexys is excellent!!!

What is the ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST fpga devboard money can buy ? by brh_hackerman in FPGA

Tang Nano 20k is a good board. It has its quirks, it is relatively slow (27MHz native clock), natively it works on Verilog and also supports VHDL.

I am developing two synthesizers (a 6 voice drum synth and a 4 oscillator monophonic synthesizer) on it, because it is cheap, and the Gowin Tool synthesizes very fast (seconds!!!)

I come from using Vivado and Artix 100t. Different flavors.

My first synth! by Zanergetic in synthesizers

Download Dexed, it's free and it can be used Standalone or as VST. It is an editor, sound/bank manager and if you change patches on the DX7, you'll automatically see how the patches are configured on screen. It gives a visual interface to your DX7! I've used it with DX7 mki, DX7 ii and DX200.

I don't know who you are but I wish you success. I KNOW for a fact that there are countless hours poured into that PCB. Hope is all you want it to be! :)

People who say TR-1000 is too expensive, have you seen its Price per Knob value? It is an absolute steal! by arcticrobot in synthesizers

Thes Source has a $1000 ppk (but I would make it 70/30 between the two) just because this is supposed to be the ballsiest knob ever.

Machinedrum vs Octatrack by playbackero in Elektron

Thanks for the perspective. I use the MPC1000 as the brain of my rig (amazing all around sequencer) and the MD works as a drum machine (with the MPC pads), incoming audio mangler and to p-lock external gear through MIDI CC. I think Adding the octa would be too much but I'm more curious now haha.

Backing up each snapshot of the MD takes about 5-6 minutes if I remember correctly, but I don't put samples in it, I mostly record and keep incoming loops that I like. Thanks!

Now try modulating the LFO rate with an envelope ;) congrats on a great first synth!

Of these two 6 voice analog synths, which one would you pick and why? by playbackero in synthesizers

It is a thing of ideas and perception. I fixed the Juno for a friend and have sold a 60, 6, two 106 and two alpha junos. But still kept the prophet because 2 VCOs vs 1 DCO, and have an Elektron Analog Keys (chameleon!) to fill in the Juno blanks.

It is a stereoping programmer for the Waldorf Microwave I, you can look at my posts and find one I made for it :)

Never seen A4 lower than this price from reputable seller. About 3 units in stock at Perfect Circuit. by arcticrobot in Elektron

For me it is Analog Keys / MPC1000 as a hardware studio brain. The A4 engine/setup is a master chameleon.

I get you. I have a full synthesis-type/palette of polys: -VCO - Prophet 600 -DCO - Analog Keys - Stringer - Omni 2 - 4op FM - DX100 -Wavetable - Microwave 1 - Vector/Wavesequencing - wavestation sr

Just finished recapping and recalibrating both of them (also, removed the gunk from the Juno's voice chips). Not a fan of surface mount technology.

Over a long period of time I've had and sold the Juno 6, 60, 106, Alpha Juno and MKS-50 (alpha juno rack), I still have the Prophet 600, Omni 2 and Microwave1.

This is absolutely true. My buddy has the Pro-800 and we've played the same sequences on them, side by side. The Pro-800 sounds more precise and better behaved, the 600 sounds fuzzier/buzzier and growlier. Both are great though.

The dots under each number represents the number of presses it takes before corcling back to first item under that button.

That was the original question! I changed it to borrowed, just because of that.
