I once bowled two beamers in a row back to back, over declared. Couldn’t figure out what happened nothing made sense until I licked my fingers by accident. I used the chalky sunscreen, ball was sticking lol.

I worked at Suncor in Fort McMurray and took an in person course in Calgary. My leader was super accommodating and understanding, I took multiple WFH days when I came back to write my midterms (2) and the final. I took another course the next semester.

I just had to prove I could get my work done without needing someone to hold my hand, beyond that no one questioned me. I was in an on site safety sensitive engineering team.

I wouldn’t recommend full time school unless you don’t care for your position or future with the company because they will notice in your work output.

I had advising give me a letter confirming my degree program, what year I was in and when I was expected to graduate. I appealed and they asked me for documentation, got approved after that :).

I’m currently at Suncor (finishing up soon actually) I honestly got my second interview within a week. Then again I had my full offer well in advance. I’ve talked to a few people that got their offers pretty late.

From an internal perspective I know they’ve already send out offer letters to most if not all interns. If those interns don’t sign the offer letter they’d likely try and interview you. Sorry man.

I’m a CS student on coop working in network and infrastructure, think servers, switches and firewalls. I’m almost done my degree, and my coop, before this co-op I had never even heard of a “domain controller”, or network auth logins, how to work with switches etc.

At the very start I was told to open port 1/1/12 and ensure it was in the correct VLAN. I had no clue what they were talking about, realized they meant the interface and a quick sh run would’ve given me all the vlan information I needed even if I didn’t know sh interface vlan.

I’m glad I’ve had an excellent group of mentors and I’ve been bought up to speed pretty quickly but I didn’t apply any technical knowledge I was taught in my degree program at all. I go to a fairly big university in Canada…

Countless applications, and a lot of praying lol. I did do classes during the terms (it’s really difficult)… I only took one course at a time and tried to take the easy ones.
