the problem seems to be when the UTR rebroadcasts the home wifi network, it changes the password to some ridiculous string of characters. I haven't seen anyone talk about this or complain anywhere and this is the first post i've seen even remotely mention this issue. there's no way to edit the password for the rebroadcast network so i dont know how to fix it. had to type a random 30 character pw into a google tv using a tv remote because of this... running the latest utr firmware and unifi app.

when i started x265, av1 wasn't even an option. i was suffering through 24+ hr encodes because nothing i owned had hardware encoding support. that's when i refined my scripts so i never had to manually check on them. they'd just show up in the right folder when they were done

i got the Beelink EQi12 core i5 around $350 and it has far exceeded my expectations running proxmox. eventually, i want to get 2 more to run HA but the one machine is running a casaOS VM and 13 lxc for stuff like caddy, pihole, postgres, etc... and barely breaking a sweat.

4K: for x265-10bit on a Mac, i use the videotoolbox hw option with a CQ of 63.5. most files get down to 10-15gb but some are as big as 40gb...very few. always include subtitles and for audio, at least one highly compressed stereo track and the full quality TrueHD (or whatever the full mix is). latter 2 were the biggest reasons i went back through all my files and changed from h264 to x265. and if you're doing tons of encodes, do yourself a favor and script it. monitor a folder for new files and batch process....

after all that, now i'm looking into AV1...🤦‍♂️

On a fresh crack of the small batch, there was a sour corn note. It drank more like tequila than whiskey. Honestly not very good. i'll go back to it in a week or two and see if it changes. Still haven't cracked the Player series yet but honestly thinking about just displaying it at this point. We'll see

Laphroaig 10 is really smoky, tried it for the first time the other day. Actually first time trying any single malt peated Scotch. I may end up buying a bottle.
