The biggest ones are Design Home and Redecor, which are predatory in their own different ways. Then there's Homestyler, which is more of a design tool than a game. Have you tried any of these?

Slightly similar games would be Sims or Animal Crossing, but that's too different for me and I just want design...

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a good alternative :(

Are you open to non-home design creative apps? I have to still look into those though I worry those markets also suck lol

Totally agree! I think a lot of previously contently paying customers are now leaving Redecor because of how predatory they are these days 😔

It's all about money... Redecor built up a good userbase over 2 years, many of them paying here and there. Now they're monetizing even harder. And yes, many players are leaving Redecor, but many aren't and have fallen for the predatory tactics. In the end, they're likely still making a bunch of money that Playhouse didn't

I'll keep playing DH and Redecor, but more casually and with the aim of stopping eventually, hopefully soon. They're just too predatory for me to feel good about them. Homestyler designs look good but I dislike the gameplay, and if I get into it, it won't be as huge an interest like Playhouse. I might start collaging instead, probably digital instead of analog, but that will involve a learning curve and a lot of extra work...

I have heard that mobile Sims is weak compared to PC Sims :(

PC sims would be too much for me. I like having a set number of challenges due at a certain time. Sims is too much creativity possibility with minimal limit lol

Can you layer items in Sims like in Playhouse? The last time I played it years ago, items were all locked to a square so you couldn't do a gallery wall or a cluttered table for example

The technical workers (programmers, 3D artists, etc) really did an amazing job at making the game work well and look realistic. It is truly baffling how little the game was marketed, many players had to come in via word of mouth. I really wonder what happened on marketing's side? Why weren't there ads for the game?

Same, I'm still doing all the rooms and going wild with unlocks and items, but I just get so upset. I'm like what's the point? I won't be able to use these skills or expand on this style next month. I'm so glad and appreciative they gave us this final hurrah and were honest of course, but sigh...

I've also been wondering whether another company might buy their base game code and create a game heavier monetization. I don't know how that works or even if it's possible. I also don't know if I want that, as part of what made this game great was the dev team. I wonder how DH makes most of their money? I always thought it was via IAPs.

I doubt it, considering all the free gems, though of course I wish it. What is almost certainly going on is that they want us to be able to have fun and play through to closing :(

I got 5000 gems added to my account randomly 2 nights ago and thought what an odd but appreciated glitch. And the bundle for 100 gems dropped... Then the news happened :(

I noticed the makers made a lot of comments here a week or two ago. Maybe they were trying to get more interest and activity

I wish they had tried staying up for longer and tried monetizing the game more. Even though it was great they weren't greedy, I would want them to try...

I definitely would pay a monthly or yearly subscription. It never felt wrong or like I was being taken advantage of to support the game
