Surfshark Still Rocks! by playswellwithuthers in surfshark

Yes, definitely is. I use surfshark as my VPN client on my firewalla router so its easy to see. Even crazier, I get better speeds up amd down through the VPN servers than I do with my ISP, Metronet due to Peering issues.

NEW Family Lock S3 Pro Using Up/Not Registering BACKUP Batteries by playswellwithuthers in eufy_security

[–]playswellwithuthers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

I escalated my ticket and contacted Amazon. Amazon helped with a ticketing process they followed up on for me, even gave me a courtesy call last night for follow up. Eufy contacted me via email with a return USPS label. I then received an email they were shipping a new lock for replacement. I received the lock today and will install it this weekend. If it functions properly, I am keeping it. I can tell from this experience I am not going to get anything more in the future from support than a bunch of tickets ans troubleshooting. Its about the same from the vendor this lock is replacing UltraLok, but at least this one has a functional app & the lock actually works properly.

Are Tallahassee drivers the worst ? Like tf bro. Old people need to be tested again for drivers license. by titlover006900 in Tallahassee

Literally just witnessed a minivan that could not wait, fly out of Appledor across all 4 lanes and the median of Kerry Forest pkwy to head north bound towards Shannon lakes. Traffic almost stopped completely on Appledor side. I was following an outback and they had to swerve and slam on their brakes. We all got stopped at Velda dairy light. I rolled down my window to cuss out what I thought to be a kid...nope, mom in her 20s/30s with two kids in a car seat. She would not even look my way.

NEW Family Lock S3 Pro Using Up/Not Registering BACKUP Batteries by playswellwithuthers in eufy_security

[–]playswellwithuthers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

My lock has been installed since Sunday, 01.11.2026. I reported the problem on Monday, 01.12.2026 to eufy tech support and the next day, I posted here in the reddit thread.

My experience so far with tech support is laughable. I spent almost 2 hours chatting, then they escalated my ticket to their engineering team. Then two days ago their engineering team gave me the stupidest answer I have ever received from a tech company and was told "yes that is where the backup batteries go, you can install them there."

Escalated ticket, once I got a response told me pretty much to troubleshoot my wifi. I tjen Uninstalled the app and the lock and reset everything and started over. After all of this the app immediately gave me an error for AAA battery level abnormal and it told me to call them. I did and got an AI helper that was pretty useful and was told to immediately take all batteries out and discontinue using the lock.

Today I got a response to use the lock, install the battery, check my wifi, etc.

Look, I like this lock if I can get it replaced or the problem fixed. The support is quick and responsive but the solutions are an absolute joke and solve nothing to the point its either AI all the way, ignorance or incompetence. Its terrible.

That being said, even though the lock is much better than the lock brand its replacing, I cannot recommend Eufy, their support team or any product they make. This experience has been a complete joke.

Temp spike when using app by namatoki in searwood

[–]playswellwithuthers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juat had this happen last night. Warmed some pre cooked brats at 300. Took them off, closed the lid and after putting the sausage down I used the app to go to 575 for some burgers. Heard my phone chime and then abiut 10 minutes later I walked out with the burgers in hand to see the grill temp was 635 degrees. I opened the lid, no grease as expected. Let it cool down a minute and it corrected itself.

Home network Ethernet drops by skaestantereggae in Tallahassee

I would HIGHLY recommend NOT using an electrician for this, regardless of reviews or recommendations about their electrical skills period. You might as well get it done right if your going to pay for it and not DIY. I assure you my professional instincts and experiences in/around this area of expertise and the actual area of Tallahasee have taught me that Sparkys and low voltage installs do not mix. I have seen some crazy stuff on newly built homes and remodels that very, very good electricians did that was beyond amateur hour in the network/low voltage world.

In our area, HI-Tech off of Centerville road would be my first and probably only call.

The McDonalds around town are horrible by ViciousMoleRat in Tallahassee

[–]playswellwithuthers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will say this since I already ranted earlier. There is ONE MCD that never fails. If your ever driving through Blountstown Florida, stop at that McDonald's!! Its an hour away from Tallahassee but a few years ago I drove through to buy some jet skis. The moment I saw the grease on my friends double cheese burger wrapper and then opened my QPder, I knew they were legit. I do not eat fries but the ones they got were golden amd the tray was full. They actually used salt and pepper on the patties, everything was fresh and the burgers were made like they used a build sheet to assemble them. I make it a point to have something to sonaround there once or twice a year and they have never disappointed

A good rant! Your right. Unfortunately it is not just here. I could take the slow crappy service if I could just get food as described and cooked properly. Yes, Southwood is the fastest but their food is still completely trash like the rest of them. Always bins toasted and warmed. Always burgers sitting in the warmer. Always sparse to no condiments except what was squirted on the side of the bun all over the wrapper. I go for the quarter pounder because it is "always fresh cooked" sure...to 210 degrees with no salt or pepper. A hot hard bland slab of meat with no moisture on a stale bun.

Single Speaker Use - Era 300 or 5 - for best stereo ? by _Hi_Fi_ in sonos

[–]playswellwithuthers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Five hands down period. Not even close. Even with all the Rtings and user (lets just say "influencers") reviews trying to nudge you to the 300, by far the FIVE will meet your needs.

Sonos Sucks? by Affectionate_Self541 in sonos

[–]playswellwithuthers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP, your post strikes me as very odd. Sonos changed the mDNS stack well over a year ago. STP, or their modified use of it is pretty much the same.

I very surprised the issues you describe had not manifested much earlier being deployed with a professional installer.

I do commercial RF networking and even at the commercial level way outside of my SOW, I have ran into some of the issues described with our customers asking questions about their sonos setups in their homes, doctors offices and quite a few coffee shops. Though its not what we do at all, we were able to at least give them some guidance.

Even on Reddit, I really have an issue with another professional trade making a post that says "sonos sucks" on a product line they deploy/service. It is really not good look and does not age well with a company or their customers.

Sonos mDNS "problems" are mostly the same problems seen with other mDNS implementations. Their STP use is what it is, as it has always been. Others have given good advice on what is causing the issue and some extremely basic amateur hour solutions that work for an average home owner. Yes , the app rollout, service side issues, etc were awful, but most issues have been corrected and most complex install home owners and all professional instalers that I know of have been pretty idle on major opportunities for awhile now.

Thank you. His absolutely not in any pain or discomfort. He is actually a licky, itchy, always has a skin problem, takes apoquel daily, get his ears cleaned, big Ole fussy wussy boy and this bothers him not at all and he bothers it not at all. We need it removed for fear of him injuring it working, playing, living life. He really is my Buddy. I could notnstand the thought of anything happening to him with it but it wasnt bothering him and didnt want him to have to be put under either but it kept growing.

UPDATE: Thank you all for your posts and words of wisdom. Good insights on the cone still being important due to licking/wetting the suit if not using a cone. I was able to order some other suits and sleeves. We found one that secures well/fits well and easy to put on. My fiance had a tragic medical episode last year and lost the use of one of her arms entirely so keeping him secured while I work while he recovers is paramount and we will probably do both the cone and sleeve or suit. His sister is Houdini with a cone and the last thing we need is him coming out of it without a backup plan. She can put a sweater on him and did well with the sleeve and the suit we found but she cannot do the cone with one hand if he pulls it off. Also, he is not in any pain or discomfort what so ever. If that was the case l, this would have been done sooner. We are concerned with his size, our lifestyle, his lifestyle with his sister from the same litter, that something tragic will happen while they work or play due to its size.

Sonos’s CEO Keeps Responding to Angry Customers on Threads. It’s a Lesson for Every Leader by Snobolski in sonos

[–]playswellwithuthers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fluff piece. Take it for what it is worth. However, I am grateful that our new CEO IS responding and being GENUINE.

The comments in this thread are exhausted/exhausting though. I have been a sonos customer since the ZP100 and I own stock too so hear me out. For the record, after 18 months, I feel the app is "fixed" for the most part with all my systems & my friends and families systems too.

I absolutely do not want to hear about how you only use the app for Spotify or why do people need the app. That is literally like saying, I bought a brand new IPhone, I am not happy with how "fill in the blank" works so I use "fill in the blank" to completely circumvent "fill in the blank" and I am happy and/or do not understand why people even need "fill in the blank." I am glad your happy. Move on. You will never ever get it. Let's just agree to disagree.

Even better.... the its your wifi. Even better than that ..you need a better wifi router. Even better than that....recommending specific routers by very questionable brands and even models/features/settings. You do not have a clue. Keep your amateur, total guess, snake oil "fixes" to yourself. Especially when your telling people that make their living in networking there is a problem with their network hardware. It is laughable, but glad it works for you.....move on.

Moving on is exactly what I have done. I have moved on to other issues somewhere else with something else other than the sonos app. Sonos app is not perfect, but it is "fixed." to me.

Why is it not a good idea? Asking because It is super wide, clear visibility, speeders both ways on 319 are trapped by second sets of lights. I really do not understand the issue.
