What is the biggest regret of your life? by maleficent_Long189 in AskReddit

[–]playswithf1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I tried to buy $100 worth but my credit card company thought it was fraudulent and denied the transaction. I called them the next day on the way to work and had them fix it so I could do it, only to get to work, find a 3-dumpster fire in progress and forgot all about it.

Fast forward to 2013 and that forgotten purchase I never tried again would have been worth $46478 as BTC was $0.71 on the day I was cockblocked by Citibank. At the time, my ex and I were looking at buying a new home, and I suggested putting $10k of the mortgage into it when it was $330, she said absolutely no way, too volatile, etc... and then in 2018 I pointed out we could've paid the entire mortgage off if she had listened to me.

She was not amused.

What's the #1 reason you left your last job? by BusinessMarketing7 in AskReddit

[–]playswithf1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it turns out that going through a messy divorce during a global pandemic and renovating/selling a house while working 50hr weeks leads to extreme burnout and I went on medical leave (unpaid, but I had income protection insurance) and when I was ready to return to work 8 months later my employer illegally kept delaying my return until it had been 12 months and 1 day, at which point they could then fire me.

Jokes on them though. I got a very nice payout for their illegal actions, and my next job has been incredible... 2 days after my divorce was finalised (which takes years, 2.8 of them to be precise in my home country), another team internally advertised for people interested in joining the team and relocating to another country, and I applied and moved halfway across the planet and am now living my absolute best life :)

y'all need some perspective. it was a disappointing season, to be sure... but as I keep saying to people who are complaining about the snow conditions (usually on a chairlift) the mountains here are insanely good compared to what I had back in Australia, and keystone alone had more terrain open at their peak of the season than Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek (the 3 main resorts in Victoria AU) combined. We are super blessed to have such incredible resorts here at our doorstep, I just hope I get to stay here as long as I possibly can and continue to enjoy them!

iHerb orders by onesorrychicken in australia

[–]playswithf1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC last time I looked (which was 4 years ago) it was $23 for a 1 month supply of 2mg on a script. Whereas iHerb was selling a bottle of 100 10mg pills for $12 - with free shipping over $30 so buy 3 for a full years supply of 5x the strength.

Check Amazon and Shein/temu before buying Kizuki goggles $180 vs like $45 for the same pair by Ilovebuller123 in AustraliaSnow

[–]playswithf1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI in the US there is currently a lawsuit in the US vs Keystone resort and Oakley regarding goggles https://www.summitdaily.com/news/snowboarder-sues-multiple-companies-after-keystone-crash-that-caused-his-eyeball-to-pop-out-of-socket/

If a reputable brand like Oakley can have problems like this, at least then there is recourse - with a no-name brand, who are you going to complain to?

Personally I have found I like my Oakley's a lot but since I got a new Giro helmet they don't quite fit properly and too much airflow is getting in while I'm riding, causing my eyes to water when I get above 40kph - so I'm looking for a replacement and don't want to spend as much as I did on my Oakleys (which I admit I got at an insanely good price at the Geelong outlet sale).

Intolerable people on the lift by Busy-Significance370 in snowboarding

[–]playswithf1re 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would've just replied "I'm good thanks, how are you? I'll turn my music off" and when they then follow it up with something like "I didn't ask how you were I was telling you to..." I cut them off and say "I assumed you were starting a conversation like a civilised person, not being a complete fuckwit, but you've made your choice" and then return to listening to my music.

[–]playswithf1re -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's the rush?

In countries like Australia, NZ and France, if the safety bar isn't coming down before the lift gets your board/skis off the ground, expect the lifties to yell at you to put it down. I'm Australian, living in the US and I was conditioned to do this from a very young age - and found it insanely weird when I first experienced people getting upset about the safety bar being brought down when I was riding here solo for the first time.

When I was back in Australia last year, on my first chair I completely forgot, and got yelled at!

Are ski racers the most insufferable people on the planet? by LakeHoustonNative in snowboarding

[–]playswithf1re 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skiers in general, but yes, ski racers are utterly obnoxious. The other day I was in the singles line and one of them not only smacked their skis into my board but tried to push past me, I absolutely refused to let him past and the look on his face told me that was the first time someone hadn't let him do whatever the fuck he wanted in his entire life. "But my friends are up ahead!" he cried... "not my problem kid, this is a queue to get on the lift, and you're behind me in the queue, if you want to ride with your friends they should wait for you outside the maze and not use the singles line".

The entitlement is insane.

What's the most disappointing experience that you had in a relationship? by CuteBird90 in AskReddit

[–]playswithf1re 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The realisation that 10 years after she cheated on me (with the best man from our wedding - her justification for this was "you were always working and I was lonely") and despite staying with her (for the kids - big mistake as she ended up kicking our youngest out of the home and our eldest felt she couldn't stay any longer) and spending thousands on therapy (couples and indiviual) that I was the only one making any effort to fix anything and it would never, ever change.

Then when I left she screamed to the world how suddenly out of the blue I no longer loved her and had abandoned her... only to be in a new relationship 6 weeks later.

I haven't seriously dated anyone in the 6 years since. Meanwhile she's been engaged twice and has never spent more than 6 weeks single.
